And it sounds like you confirmed on sickw that it's still Verizon locked?
If so; my only suggestion is to try and do a full wipe and reset; it's a Hail Mary kinda play but have read that it works for some.

Yeah, that's weird. I can't really be of much help but maybe try posting your question on the Verizon subreddit; it's normally perused by vzw employees.
Total paid for phone: $104.31 ($8.66 tax to Walmart, $95.65 to Verizon).
4/17/24 Ordered phone on Walmart website, paid $8.66 sales tax to Walmart
4/18/24 Received phone, cancelled Verizon service via chat, unlocked iPhone using $1 H20 starter SIM
4/25/24 Received bill for $150.65, called Verizon and requested refund of Activation Fee and full refund for 1 month service since plan was cancelled the day the phone was received. Bill reduced to $95.65, the cost for the phone
4/26/24 Paid final bill of $95.65 online
iPhone 12 arrived on 4/24/2024 and I activated it on the same day.
I called the phone number 800-922-0204 and said "pay off device" and received a text message. Once you click the link it'll take to you to a chat screen just to tell you that you can not pay off the device until 5/15/2024.
On 4/25/2024I went to a corporate Verizon store and the rep looked up the account and said that I can not pay off the device until 5/2/2024 and there's no way around it.
I then went home to find out that Verizon had already sent me an bill of $124.62 ( $35 one time activation fee, $75 monthly plan, $2.75/month device fee, $7.73 surcharge fees, and $4.14 Taxes & Gov fees).
So I call the number on the bill which was 800-922-0204. I told them I wanted to cancel my phone plan and phone line. The rep said that he'll be glad to help me do it. he said that I'll need to take my phone and return to the store where I bought it from. I told him that I bought it from Walmart and they don't take returns. He said that he'll be glad to send me a return kit. I asked him if I could keep the phone. He says that I can if I want to pay the $99 fee which is the cost of the phone. He told me that I'll get a final bill which will show the cost of the $99 for the device. I asked him about waiving the activation fees since I cancelled within 3 days of activating the device. He said that I'll have to call back once I receive the final bill. After we hang up the phone line was quickly deactivated and then the Verizon account online was also deactivated too since I no longer have a valid mobile device with them now.
So now I just to wait until I receive my final bill to pay off the device and discuss with them about getting the activation fee waived and make sure the prorated charges are correct for the 2 days that I had the phone on.

Can you explain more on how you unlocked using h2o starter sim?
They sent me a bill for $121, I called customer service and explained I cancelled before the 3 days and they brought it down to $20. No I never put the Verizon sim in the phone. I put an att one.

(1) If I unlock the phone with ATT sim, can I use it right after that on another carrier (eg. Xfinity, Mint)?
(2) If I don't do anything at all (not put in ATT sim, not put in Verizon sim), would the phone become unlocked after 60 days?

Do you know what are the consequences of not activating the account?
My understanding from reading other SD posts is that the phone or sim comes pre-activated once you place the order at Walmart, thus verizon starts charging service fee from the time when you order.

FOr updating warranty, reach out to Apple customer support and they will provide you a link where you can upload invoice to update warranty.

if its flex policy phone you can unlock it with inactive prepaid ATT sim if don't put verizon one in first like the target deals
