Mine arrived today and I just got it configured to my liking with the RGB color scheme. All around, I'm very impressed for what you get here for the price. The keys are not terribly loud, and they're very responsive. Solid purchase all around and will be my primary keyboard going forward.

Regarding the dial and what you saw in the video, you can disregard all of that. The dial works to adjust volume out of the box. At any point, you can twist it left or right for PC volume adjustment. It just works.

This keyboard has definitely gone through functional changes over the years since that video was posted. All of the RGB effects are now altered through keypress combinations using the FN (Function) key at the bottom of the keyboard, plus some specific keys around the keyboard for various customizations, including brightness levels of the RGB. There's a small instructional piece of paper that comes in the keyboard box that outlines all of the FN + key combinations to do the RGB tweaking, none of it is done using the dial. Given that this is a budget brand, that's likely why they don't bother updating their promotional video from a few years ago.

If you're looking for a budget priced Cherry MX mechanical keyboard that has a really nice build quality and RGB options, all of which are optional and can even be turned off, I'd whole-heartedly recommend this keyboard at the price to anyone that's been considering it.

Thanks a lot for the update. I think I am gonna switch from my azio mx brown to this as this has dedicated multimedia keys too. My first time trying red. I do find the brown tad noisy myself.

You bet! I'm a couple of hours into using it now, and I'm really glad I took the chance on it. If you're good with the default multimedia keys on it and aren't concerned with an option to create macro keys, definitely go for it.

Depending on your typing style. I don't like keyboards without the indent on the caps. It is too close to the A, so I end up hitting it a lot on these key layouts.

I bought an Aukey mechanical keyboard years ago, but never used it.

I opened it fir the first time last week to try it and it lasted all of 5 seconds.

Is it worth buying these cheap, mechanical KBs?
Cheap or expensive, mechanical keyboards are not meant to be reliable for gaming. A switch or key cap will break. $20 or $200. You are buying it for performance or a specific feature.

If you get 2 years without having to replace or do any maintenance, that is great.

the typical way is to told function and press one of the directional arrows. its not universal but worth a shot you may have to check your manual if all else fails

thanks. i couldnt find it in the 1-page manual but noticed another button (DEL) with "change" on it. and that did it with Fn. So Fn+Ins changes style of backlight and Fn+Del changes color. liking the kbd very much so far. noticeably less noisy than cherry mx brown I was using last few months.

I just ordered one. I really wanted a wired backlit keyboard, as well as backlit media keys for music. I didn't need the mechanical keys, or RGB, or RGB underneath the keyboard, but I figured it can't hurt. Hoping it will brighten up my WFH office, which I practically live in. This looks like a great deal and a solid feature set for $40. It's only a small premium over a basic keyboard with media keys. Hoping it's not a complete piece of junk. It's replacing a Logitech K200 which has served my for a decade and is still going strong. I'm definitely not going the throw the K200 away.

so far i am liking the keyboard a lot. if I had to nitpick i'd say the max lighting of keys could be brighter (it has 7 levels) for my old eyes.

I've been using it for a few days now, and I can assure you that it's got really good build quality. Really good heft, responsive keys, and good lighting from the RGB that you can customize to your liking. I tried a $200 Logitech option before this and returned it. This is giving me a better user experience at a fraction of the cost. I'll have to wait and see what the longevity of the quality looks like, but I'm impressed with what you get for $40. Highly recommend it, especially at this price.

I bought the keyboard and then emailed the company because I wanted to return it. Coming from Logitech Romer G switches, I didn't care for the Cherry MX Reds. Actuation length is too long for me. They emailed back and asked if I would agree to keep it if they gave me a $15 discount. I said make it $20 and you have a deal. $20 is not bad for a backup keyboard.

I've had mine for a few days now and I really like it. It is built much better than I though it would be, and quite heavy for a keyboard. The magnetic wrist rest is really convenient. I have no experience in mechanicals, but the MX Cherry Red key action is also very nice...I certainly would not want louder keys. The backlighting, devoted backlit media keys, and knob are really great to have. I work form home and often have music playing on my personal computer. It's great being able to hit a button or twist a knob when somebody calls me. Something to note is the knob is not backlit, if that matters to anybody. This keyboard is in an entirely different league than my Logitech K200. It is quite a dramatic upgrade. Unless you are looking for some kind of exotic keyboard materials, I can't see a keyboard being much higher quality than this. This was $40 well spent.

EDIT - The references to the customization software mentioned on the page can also be ignored. I've hunted everywhere, including the actual Deco Gear website, and it's unavailable to download. They've likely stopped development and support of it, which means you won't be able to utilize the programmable macros functionality advertised on the page. That's not a dealbreaker for me, but if that's important to you as a feature, you'll likely want to pass on this keyboard.
Can you detach the USB wire from the top of the keyboard? I don't care about wireless... I just want to pull the wire off and store the keyboard when I need to.
