For me, multiple SSIDs and VLANs are necessary because I want all my devices, the kids', IoT, and TVs all on separate networks. I also love being able to chose the DNS setting for each network. I set my kids' network to be way more strict than my other networks using Pi-hole and Cloudflare's family DNS server. Having these capabilities gives you so much more control and it's built-in and easy to use.
I would never, ever think of going back to a router with only one SSID. And they're typically on sale for around the $200 range. I. Do. Not. Understand. why these lower capability Orbi mesh systems cost as much as they do when the Orbi Pros do so much more. Blows my mind.
Orbis are made expensive and usually overkill in design and underperform.
However this will out perform most of the tp link cheapo junk.
