This is a common sale price (check SD history for "paver" and you'll see).

Note, these are "overlay pavers", which require a concrete pad as a base according to installation instructions.

My guess is without concrete as a base, they will break. Even with concrete as a base, lots of reviews complain of them chipping and cracking, so replacing them is an ongoing problem.

Unless someone can correct me on the above details, I'd pass.
mine are on a quickndirty sand/clay base - no problems for two years.

also as caps on concrete/cinder blocks aroumd my vegetable garden - no problems.
This would be one thing that has no impact on inflation: it has the same price as five years ago.

So long as a guest doesn't run them over, you shouldn't have issues. That's my experience anyways.

I'd been looking at different options for edging some mulched areas from my lawn. Has anyone here used this size of paver as edging rather than the 3-4" high stones? There isn't really any variation in grade, but I just want something to separate the two areas rather than just a nebulous area that is kinda grass, kinda mulch. I figure I'd dig a 1-2" deep trench as wide as the stones, fill the bottom with rocks and sand, and use the sand to keep everything nice and level. Hopefully that would keep them from sinking or being engulfed by soil over time.

You could fill the trench with mulch. Then place the bricks on top

this is a great price if you planning to do some patio or even walking step. A pallet come around 720 pieces of what i heard come around $180, but i think you get additional discount since you buy over 500 pieces you get he bulk price i think it was $0.23.

i installed these last year for the same price at lowes. Feedback when installing them on paver pads, they were easy to install and easy to cut using a tile saw run through both sides and breaking the rest. My only negative feedback was if youre utting polymetric sand between them, the nubbed out gap sapcer that built into each brick is VERY thin, like 1/16" in. to the point where polymetric sand doesnt go in easily. we had to use +stlye tile spacers, which, although worked great, was a pain in the ass... like thousands of them and made the install about 10x as long.

I'm tempted to build raised garden beds out of these. Definitely not what they're made for. Odds I could get it to work?
You could get it to work, but it's a waste of money and time. You'll need at least 5-6 layers, and a 8x4 raised bed at .25 a pop you'll be over 50 bucks. Or you can just get a 1x6x8ft at 6 bucks a piece. You'll need 6 and a 2x4x8ft ripped into 2x2 so about 40 bucks for the wood. These bricks will not survive the soil shifting without cementing them to each other. It takes approx 5 minutes to build a raised bed with wood, and it takes around 30 minutes with bricks. Now if you have 5-6 raised beds to build, that's HOURS of time, and you better hope you don't need to make adjustments or move it around. Good idea, but in practice bricks / pavers are a huge time waster.

And..squirrels... don't underestimate them. If you don't cement them down, they will pull bricks off constantly to dig and hide their "cache" of food, often pulling bricks over it. They can move them and shift them, they're pretty strong. They can't do crap with a whole piece of wood and it's not attractive to them to move. Once they figure out they can move the bricks, you're in a world of constant putting them back in place. The coons will pull the bricks off looking for insects as well. And if you put them down and cement them to each other, when it's time to remove or move, time to do multiple hours of messy work. Too many downfalls.

I know this about squirrels when I built my firepit, they are on camera pulling bricks into the firepit because I never set them down permanently, and they cover up their goodies with bricks over the top of the ashes. So I am sure if they can do it with raised beds, they will since squirrels love to dig in raise beds.
