Out of curiousity, when you went through the Walmart check out process, did you ever get a Verizon account number? Or on the shipping label? I don't recall seeing it during check out and there are too many numbers on the shipping label to decifer what is what.
paid till now : $32 of taxes to walmart....
i m fine with verizon or walmart charging $360 price of phone (as long as they unlock it when paid in full) .. if not then a wifi only device..

1. Tried calling the verizon store (authorized) that I had visited previously if I could payoff with cash, they put me on hold and no answer.
2. Went to corporate store, told them I wanted to payoff. The CS lady said cash only. paid in full.
3. called Verizon and asked to disconnect the number. Very slow CSR, was about to charge me 126 (activation and one month). I clarified I do not want to port the number and will not pay the activation as it is still in 3 day window. She accepted that. said I will be billed for the prorated. She was willing to help on unlock but line got suspended while on call (total talk time 41 mins).
4. Current status: number disconnected, phone paid off but still locked!

So breakdown is this:
$359 phone
$75 1st month service
$35 activation
$11.78 taxes / fees
-68.17 (service credit plus taxes)
$412.61
I asked them to remove the $35. They counter with 50% at $17.50. I told them it was on their website under refund policy. Net 412.61 - 35 = $377.61. Not bad.
One thing I find interesting is that it doesn't appear that they charged the taxes on the phone itself, which would have been more than $20. Not sure why.
Also the final paper bill does not have breakdown. I had to talk to them on the phone to get the breakdown.
