I have this laptop. Love it for my needs and casual non AAA titles gaming. I said before, this laptop is a unicorn for those who need a laptop like this - light, compact, 2in1, 13in touchscreen with graphics that isnt a lame Iris which almost all (if not all) 13in 2in1s have. G14 is a better laptop for the $ if you dont care about the 2in1 touchscreen.
Battery life is "ok", sometimes windows search bar disappears when you start typing, sometimes laptop boots into bios for no reason on startup, a usbC bios updated nearly bricked all my usbC ports for some reason (forgot how i undid it). My only gripes. Coming from a HP 13in spectre, this 16:10 screen is great. I dont think i can do another 16:9. I have the ROG port capped off with a 3d printed piece except for the usbC portion of it to get another usbC port on this laptop. Using it with a wacom bamboo ink pen for drawing/graphics.
its an ROG ally minus the controllers but add the keyboard and a larger screen

ALL laptops have some bugs, but the build quality on Thinkpads are still great.
Name something better.
some other problems:
-my t14s gen 1 AMD often has the enter and backspace keys stop working randomly. no fix so far. fairly common problem if you search on reddit and forums. so much for that "awesome keyboard"
-Both AMD T and X series starting Gen 3 have soldered qualcomm wifi which is terrible compared to intel wifi. this also includes certain P series clones of T series like the P14s or P16s. many online complaints as well but since barely anyone buys AMD laptops no one really cares

I agree there are too many. Lenovo is trying to push thinkpad users towards the "slim" line as their premium line, but its the same as every other laptop. Instead of leaning into rugged laptops that will last they just want to be a crappy version of apple like everyone else.
Apples hardware is great, not arguing there.
I havent heard about the qualcomm issue, but ill look into it.
My point still stands though, who is a better manufacturer right now?
Im a linux user, and am open to another laptop. Ive considered Framework, system76, starlabs, dell, razer, Asus, etc, but all of them had some deal breaking flaw. Usually the build quality, keyboard, or general cheap feel is the biggest offender.
Im at a point where I'd pay 1k-2k for a laptop if it checks all my boxes and has no issues, but besides buying a mac there is none.
So Ill just continue to buy 1-2 generation old thinkpads for $100-300 and not be that upset if they arent perfect. They're the best we have right now.
I'm just upset there are no open boxes ANYWHERE near me
Before gpus were a thing? So like early 90s?
*They'll probably want to encode video, mine crypto, Fold @ Home, and help SETI out all at the same time....but that frame rant better not hit 235 FPS

The only catch is that it only has an integrated GPU which is not a good deal for a supposed gaming laptop at the $1250 list price but on sale it's a very strong deal compared to other 2-in-1s like the HP Envy or Lenovo Yoga

so i can technically hook this up to like any usb4 egpu? ie razer core
Im questioing whether there is a usb4 port or a usb typc 3.2. Its non Intel so its not thunderbolt .
USB4 is comparable and its what i want with the Ryzen CPU
but there is a x13 Ryzen model with a dedicated graphics onboard. Im wondering if this is the stripped down versopn without the usb4.
Given the 7940hs chipset , it should have the usb4. Unfortunately i cannot find USB4 on the ebay page. Anyone elese verify this?

So answering my own question i looked at the ASUS ROG product page .https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/r...ries/spec/
This comes in 3 flavors. This one is without a dedicated Graphics card but the ryzen 7940hs has strong onboard RDNA3 graphics with the 780m
if you look on the config on the right it matches the model # in the ebay ad GV302XA-X13.R9512. So usb4! true !!!!
Got mine today…. Yes to facial recognition.
