If you're not a fragrance snob and don't mind getting a clone, get Woody Oud by Maison Alhambra on Amazon for like 1/6 the price. Same quality and scent. Pretty much 99%.
I do not believe that one bit about the merchandise being old stock/returns. Screw that authorized retailer stuff. Thats so the public gets hosed via price fixing by groups of retailers locked into Map pricing. I would challenge that assesment and I would like real proof of that. A woman can buy Lamer from them or Saks 5th. Saks 5th a few hundred more per. for the same item. Some Costco customers will use half the jar and return for 100% no questions refund.

Oud Wood is another TF fragrance that men like but women seem blah on. If your target audience is men, this is probably a good scent. But if your target is women, there are probably better scents. At least according to my wife and daughter and their friends. Although I'm sure there are women who like it, but it seems like a scent that guys like a lot.

People make up stuff and its taken at purely face value. They have no questions asked on returns as well and its mroe than 30 days on every item with few exceptions.
Oh woah, never realized Costco sells le labo. Looks like they also carry rose 31 and another 13. While the others don't have the $50 off, they qualify for "Buy More, Save More on Qualifying Beauty Items. Buy 3, Save $30. Buy 4+, Save $50. Valid 4/22/24 through 5/5/24. While supplies last. Online-Only. Limit 2 redemptions per member."
Anyone know if Costco carries other scents at other times? My favorite is the matcha 26.
Yes, their stuff changes but selections are very limited.
Like other non-staple stuff, something is available and later never available again, or stays for a few months. .
When I find something unusual at costco that I really like, I stack up since it may never come back.
I dislike the smell of all Tom Ford colognes for some reason.
I have a number of TF scents that I absolutely love, mainly the Portifino line. Neroli Portifino Forte, Mandarino di almalfi, Costa Azzura, and a number of others along those lines. Its very hard to find anything offensive with those scents.
We went to dinner with this couple and the husband was wearing this. We just kept looking at each without saying a word, but thinking "This guy smells GROSS"

Like anything else - just personal preference. My wife and daugthers really like it. But your point about what we (men) might like the smell of isn't necessarily what the females like is valid. Same with women, my wife has a bottle of something that just smells like my grandmother's knitting basket - can't stand it.

Can confirm: The only people (including my girlfriend) to pay me compliments when wearing Oud Wood have been men.

If you're getting to fragrances start with any of those. All are extremely close to the original and some better.
I tried Le Labo Santal 33, Le Labo Noir 29 and TF oud yesterday on my wrist and arms. Smelled multiple time over the day. I liked Noir 29 at first but after two hour Santal 33 developed and i liked this better than othwr two. The clone you mentioned have very good review and will probably try. But I was wondering if you any clone recommendations for Santal 33. I loved that smell.
I didn't read what this was. Just saw an image on the home screen. I'm looking for a new garbage disposal for under my kitchen sink. I thought that's what this was.
To counter this -- many fragrance 'enthusiasts' actually prefer the older batches.
Many companies will actually reformulate fragrances over time, keeping the same scent but adjusting percentages of ingredients (such as more alcohol, less fragrance oil.. or substituting one for another), generally resulting in a shorter-lasting fragrance.
Many will actually seek out older batches as they're a bit more sought after and in demand. Many fragrances will last well over 10 years. I have a few partial bottles from the 80's/90's that smell incredible still, and compared to todays releases of the same scents are definitely my go-to.
Most fragrances have a 'freshness' date, but that seems to be from the date it's first used rather than the date it was packaged. Something like 3-5 years from first spray.. and these will often only be to guarantee the scent remains up to their standards.
Much moreso than the age of the fragrance is the importance of keeping it out of direct sunlight and heat (don't keep it in your car or by your open windows) and keeping it out of the bathroom/cabinets.
I just posted a link that was enough to talk me personally out of this purchase. My question is: Do you think that there's any chance that high-end fragrance companies, like Tom Ford, would risk reputation and make a separate batch that has been diluted or possibly replacing the scarce and expensive to source natural Oud with a synthetic or partially synthetic alternative specifically made for a huge discount retailer that has agreed to a very large purchase? Let's say so that aforementioned retailer could then be able to turn around and offer say $60 off? I know they could risk cheapening their brand by such a move, but likely the consumers of that retailer likely wouldn't have anything to compare it to previously nor would they be return purchasers at the higher price. I would venture to guess this would amount to a ridiculous revenue influx to help in a slow quarter and short of some sort of obvious proof, they'd have nothing to lose. Heck, with the right spin I'm not so sure obvious proof would would be enough to deter at least half of the US population! I know very little about perfumers, but no a tiny bit about retail and this idea would certainly not be a new approach. I'm curious to hear other perspectives though.

Considering the price you probably get more than you pay for. Don't expect TF and you'll be content.
