Appears to be a rebrand of the Alctron CK6; I've heard good things about the sound, but the sensitivity is pretty low for a condenser, and the self noise is pretty high (22 dB-A), which is probably why they don't list it in the Skylight specs.

I guess the boom for podcast mics is now over as everyone is selling off their stock. There's probably some pretty good mics in here for us engineers.
If you want the same brand but USB, they have this one also for $35 (78% off): Amazon Link [amazon.com]

Bought one, can't speak much for sound quality yet, but this thing is built like a tank. I own several other cheaper mics (MXL 990, Schure SM58), and several more expensive mics (Sennheiser MD 421 II, etc.), and this is the sturdiest build I've come across. Metal everything, very handsome matching pop shield which seems to work well.

This is brilliant thanks! Have you been able to find a frequency graph? I haven't. How did you know it was a rebadge alctron?

What popular mic do you think tis compares to?

I'm trying to figure out if I need this flavor in my mic locker or not. I could use a LDC with a smoother high end. I have WA47jr that can be quite harsh on vocals in the high end.
Haven't been able to find a frequency graph, sorry, but there are plenty of reviews on YouTube (which is where I learned it was a rebrand). The lack of info provided by the company is a little surprising.

My assumption was this was geared towards the podcast market which aren't engineer types interested in specs. And was likely a quick marketing meeting decision that went like this:

The podcast market is booming! Shure has sold more SM57s this year than they have in the past 20 years! People looking for podcast microphones will buy any crap you sell them. We already have a good brand so why don't we call up the Alcatron guys, tell them to slap our badge on it and change the color. All we need is Doug to whip up a new manual and we'll have to do zero work actually designing and testing a new mic! Easy money!

I have a blue snowball, is this much of an upgrade?

Looking to mostly record technical video walkthroughs of a software product; no music/instruments/singing.

For me it was. I always had issues with the Blue Snowball and its low volume, and picking up a lot of desk noise. This one has been much better on those fronts, and (imo) sounds better. This one is going through my UMC204HD though, so it's a more complicated setup.

Bought one of these for my wife to use for discord/calls. Like someone else said this thing is built like a tank, the build quality alone is impressive at this price. Spoken word quality seems fine and it works without any issues.

Anyone looking for a good starter usb/xlr dynamic microphone for streaming/gaming I highly recommend the m.a.o.n.o PD200X (if I type out the company without the periods it says "urlhasbeenblocked"…?). Right now it's $63 on its own or $70 bundled with a boom arm. If patient though it does go down to $50 every now and then.
I stream everyday and was getting sick of the Epos b20 usb-c mic for its lack of EQ and annoying software suite. It wasn't that I needed to EQ it, it's the lack of options to be able to that made me mad. (the Epos b-20 is $50 new on Amazon incase anyone wants a great deal one. I bought mine closer to its $200 msrp…). Anyways, I decided to get a mixer and while looking on eBay came across a like new MaonoCaster AMC2 NEO and managed to win it for $25 including shipping. Didn't realize I needed a xlr mic to use it, and that's when I bought the PD200X, it blew the Epos out of the water in every aspect for just out of box sound… I have never actually hooked it up via usb-c. I know it does have a free software suite that is better than the Epos's available. After using the mixer/Xlr I will never go back to non-xlr. I managed to catch a deal on the HyperX ProCast for $105 and it's gonna be my main mic for years to come…if anyone is in pdx and wants a deal on my pd200x's hmu on twitch or kick! Or if you just want to see what the difference in sound is from a $60 multi-purpose usbc/xlr to a "professional" XLR only (requires phantom power) Large Diaphragm condenser is (rlctech is my username on both !)
