32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, Excellent build quality (from reviews), 2.2 lbs weight.

HP Dragonfly G4 13.5" Intel Evo Platform Touchscreen Laptop - 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355U - 1280p - Windows 11 Pro

This was $1200 a couple of weeks back and then it went to $1099. It just dropped to $999.

This is not the newest core ultra processor, but is this not good enough for most at this price point considering the build quality? I was looking for 32GB RAM, 1TB, 14.5 inch or less. and processor from the latest gen (preferably AMD) but I don't think it can be had for less than $1000. Zenbook came close with intel 155h.

Features:
  • Intel Evo Platform Powered 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1355U Processor
  • Wi-Fi 6E (2x2/160) Gig + Bluetooth® 5.3
  • 13.5" WUXGA Touchscreen display (1920 x 1280)
  • 32GB RAM
  • 1TB PCIe NVMe™ M.2 Solid State Drive
  • Camera with Sure Shutter Electronic Privacy Shutter

Processor: Intel Evo Platform Powered 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1355U Processor (10 cores - 2P + 8E)

RAM: 32GB LPDDR5 RAM

Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 11 Pro

Drives: 1TB PCIe NVMe™ M.2 Solid State Drive

Display: 13.5" WUXGA Touchscreen display (1920 x 1280) 400 nits Brightview

Keyboard: Full-size Backlit Keyboard

Ports:

Maybe I should do that. Return unopened and go back the next day. Smilie)
Won't people probably have a new laptop before wifi 7 even means anything compared to 6e?

Absolutely fantastic laptop. Got it at $1,200 for my son who starts college this year. Great form factor and has oomph behind it. Highly recommend

I would think that those looking at this should consider the roughly 500 to $550 ThinkPad X1 nanos on eBay. Specifications are somewhat lower but I do suspect that many looking at this computer are going to use it as a secondary ultralight travel machine.

Looks those are gone now. I remember almost buying one of those sold by antonline last year. They had all kinds of combinations on sale (touch/non-touch, i5/i7, etc.), and they came with full manufacturer warranty. They must have cleared out all their old stock during those sales.

Has anyone removed the bottom cover to look inside? I'm assuming that the WWAN card is not installed but does it have the antennas for the WWAN pre-installed as well as the side SIM carrier slot so we could add WWAN after purchase?

Haven't really looked too much into buying a laptop, but can someone explain to me what makes this laptop worth $1k? The specs look pretty ordinary. Couldn't u get a similar laptop for about $200 to $400 less with similar build quality??

No explanation? If I had to guess it's because it's hard to find a laptop this light with these kind of specs? Still don't think 1k is justifiable though if that's the case, but I'm just cheap lol.

yeah you can find something similar i guess. I always think the extra $100 to go thru costco is worth it just because of the return and warranty they offer. You can always roll the dice with newegg...

I guess it just depends on what you think "similar" specs are. 32gb ddr4 vs 32gb ddr5. i7 13620h vs i7-1355. 3.75lb vs 2.2lbs. 3cell 39.3 Whr vs 6cell battery 51/68 Whr. non-touch vs touch.i would still pick the costco for the extra $300.

Would this be good enough to run adobe programs for graphic design and some video editing or should I look at something better in the GPU department

I was going to say the same thing until I saw your post. I agree -- nothing really stand-out on this to make it a "deal" at $1000. 32GB is nice, but it also isn't costly enough to raise the price much. Integrated Intel graphics, mainstream i7, 1280p display (doesn't say OLED so I assume IPS).

"Deals" are like the Lenovo P14s deal a couple months ago (14" 2.8K OLED, Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U, 64GB LPDDR5, 1TB SSD) for $1009. Compare that to this HP and I don't see the attraction.

Currently, for a $100 more, there is this which includes a 120Hz 2.8K OLED display.

I stand corrected, it is 68whr!

When comparing this Costco model to most online reviews, note the following differences to have the right expectations out this unit:
This Costco model comes with 1355U cpu, 32gb ram, 1Tb storage, 68whr battery.
Most online reviews are done on 1365U cpu, 15gb ram, 512gb storage, 68whr battery.

I.e., if you compared the scenario specs above, I would expect this Costco model when under max load to run slightly slower, cooler, better multitasking, better storage, and a little better batter life; when compared to the reviewed benchmarks.
