Thanks for the heads up! I've been looking for a deal on this model for a while now and finally bit on this. It only comes with a 90 day warranty from Acer, but a 2 year warranty is included from squaretrade if anyone is put off by it being refurbished.
Is this better than the legion 9i and the scar 16 and 18?
Yes, it is. The display alone is superior to all 3. Unless we're talking about the 3.2K option on Legion 9i (that's $500 more than this though). One of them might have the 13980HX processor but real life difference between that and 13900HX is negligible.
First time buyer into the pc game. Question: any cons to this? Like is it power limited or anything since it's a laptop? Obviously it's not too upgradable since it's a laptop but that doesn't matter.

Dr. Wajahat, do you ever see 4080 versions of deals like this (i.e. refurbs with 17"+ screens) or know of a good place to look? This is just a bit out of my price range

Question. Since this is not being moved around often, as a gaming desktop replacement, why not pair a small thin laptop with an eGPU?
When you're spending this much cash, most likely you'll be playing on an external monitor at home anyway. And a $700-800 laptop paired with a 4080 super in an eGPU will outperform this any day, and much more quietly, and at lower total cost.
I've had both setups and I just don't see the upside of going to a massive laptop. I loved my r17 with 1080 decked out to hell, but it was still attached to a 34" monitor at home, and I never ever took the damn thing on travel (even with the special Alienware backpack made for it). That means I had to have a second laptop for traveling. Now I'm on an AMD ultrabook with 680m that can do light gaming (Hades is always fun), and using a quiet modded eGPU with a 3090 at home on a 32" 4k. Best of both worlds. And I can toss in a 5000 series later.

the squaretrade team is so helpful, I've warrantied like 8 refurb items and no hiccups, even when accidental. I'd rather have this warranty instead of the original one

Not really, this laptop is a BEAST!
