Accessories 4 less has the NEW Onkyo RZ70 for $1999 with a factory 3 year warranty
Accessories 4 less has mostly refurbs but occasionally they have a few new units.
I would think you could get another dealer to match if you had a preferred one.
This is an 11.2 channel AVR with Dirac on board as standard, DLBC is a paid option, should you desire
It also has a very robust amp section reflected in its almost 50 lbs of weight.
The benches very close the $6500 Denon A1H and shares the same DACs with that unit.
There is nothing like this under about $3500, at which point there are some Anthem, Arcam, NAD options
AVS forum member that own this unit seem to be extremely satisfied with it. Thy marvel at its performance from both a sonics and internal amp performance.
I personally own the Onkyo RZ50 and am looking at this to replace a Marantz 7015 I own.

The RZ50 gives you 11 pre outs channels of processing for much less than this.
Most people don't believe they need 140 watts for all the channels, why you get pre outs after all.
RZ50 didn't bench test very well but people often rave about how extremely satisfied they are with it.
People often dismiss DLBC as irrelevant because they believe Dirac Live offers their bass management with it.
The RZ50 also includes the same version of Dirac Live.
From personal experience, at this price I would throw in the Marantz Cinema 50 when on sale like this.
The same site has it refurb for $1499.
If you need Dirac Live you can add it now and still leaves you enough for the better mic than you get with this.
They make a very good mix IMO.
Same would hold true when the Denon 4800 goes on sale again.
Heck even at the price the same site has it now would be a contender(1799OB/1699refurb).
I am an old school pure direct mode for 2 channel music
This unit does not have the Dirac target curves built in that some brands have.
In the AVS forum thread for the Onkyo 7100/RZ50 forum there are those that have used some target curves that they have obtained elsewhere

Each Dirac enabled brand seems to have their own nuances to room correction set up
It is a very good resource and helps to dispel common misinformation regarding Dirac Live.
This renowned AV Professional worked directly with Dirac to come up with these crucial and helpful tips & tricks on how to properly use Dirac Live.
They even explain what Dirac Live Bass Controls offers, differences and even show it to you!
This should be attached to all these Dirac Live deals imo!

Rz70 gives you auro3d though. Not worth it for a grand upgrade. But if you have a big room and need the extra channels. With auro as well
Both can only process up to 11 channels, you need to power 10 & 11 through external amps with the RZ50 though.
Auro is very hit and miss, content has a lot to do with it.
When object based soundtracks is available most opt for that over Auro imo.
When it's not it's a toss up between Auro, Virtual X & core/legacy codec for me.
It varies widely based on the content on which is better IME.

Differences in the RZ50 versus RZ70 ..or perhaps I should say the ones that are important to me
Significant upgrade in the amp/power supply
11 channel...but to me past 9 channels is not very important.
Better DAC's
DLBC capability
I personally own the RZ50 and nothing even comes close in the price range of the 7100/RZ50
Much better sounding unit than the Marantz 7015 that I own as well
If this RZ70 drops in price again the Marantz 7015 will be sold
In fact, I am very tempted at the $1999 price point to buy it now
I am an old school pure direct mode for 2 channel music

90% of multi-channel setup (5,7 or 11) out there where the back of sofa are most likely facing against a wall. To create the illusion sound that coming from behind is impossible with this setup. This is why they recommended best seat in the theater is in the middle. So if this is your case, 5.2.1 is plenty good.
I stop use room correction since when it first available on some of high end receiver. I prefer setting my system manually instead of what others like or think the sound to be. Most important is what makes YOU happy not others.
Still get a kick out of wattages rating claim on some of these receivers. 140W x 7 or 11 are listed PEAK not continuous (RMS) power. Most high end receiver that I've seen can produces is 140W x 2 RMS. Things are moving toward class D, so you may get a little higher wattages or same as these company need to cut cost to sell their receiver with similar price as last year or year before with better tech.
Edit - $2700 and no XLR in or out is just BS. Some say in short distance as it doesn't matter and that is not TRUE.

To my ears the Arcam was sonically superior to the Marantz in that regard
I then ran room correction( Dirac) and became an even bigger fan
Interesting that you mention SACD..I still have a few of those( along with some DVD audio) discs lying around
As for true power...the Onkyo RZ70 has been tested and benched 147 watts driving 5 channels simultaneously into a 4ohm load
To get numbers like that in Denon, for instance you have to step up to the $6500 MSRP A1H
Like the 7100 and RZ50..owners seem very satisfied with this unit, even those that paid full MSRP at introduction.
This RZ70 is considered the " base" model of the Pioneer and Integra units that are clones of it. They have some XLR connections, but are a few hundred dollars more
Reviews have stated that the Onkyo and Pioneer are " voiced" differently.
I dont know...as I think all three units share the same DAC's and amp/pwer supply sections.
