Can someone explain what the hacking process entails?

How do you get in 97
Say 149

You return the "free" battery for $50+ and keep the sander = $97

It seems like the Milwaukee sanding pads are overpriced. Can I DIY some pads for this sander to save money?

I bought one of these a while ago. It does work great, but the sandpaper is specific to this tool.

This shape of sand paper is awesome with many corners that you can use to get into tight spaces,
great for sanding cabinets.

Get the 1/4 sheet version, and you can cut out 2.5 sheets of these. You can get this sheet that come with it and outline it on a 1/4 sheet and cut it out. Fun projects for the kids 😁. I use these sheets and it work great.

If you have a multitool just buy an attachment and save yourself the money it's the same thing
That's what I thought at first. But while researching I've read several comments by others stating they are much different in how they work and that it was worth it to get this over using the sander attachment on the oscillating tool. I am not a wood worker so I don't necessarily need specific sanders for different jobs, I just want something that'll get the job done. That said, this is an orbital sander vs the oscillating tool which just moves side to side.

I've owned the oscillating tool for a while and have used it to sand several things. I just picked this up and it was absolutely worth it. First, it is much lighter (and smaller) than the oscillating tool. It also has a variable speed trigger which allows greater control. Lastly, in my uses, it has sanded material much quicker (and cleaner) than the oscillating tool.

Thanks for the clarification. I just bought it and will try it out.

Anyone know if customer service gives you a hassle if you return the battery when doing an online purchase?

I've never had an issue. Not sure if you can still do cancel online or via chat or if the only option is instore return.

I've done it both ways before and no issues, but this may be store dependent, although aside from them huffing and puffing, not sure what they can really hassle you about. If it's an issue, HD should change the way these are offered.

In your case, probably never. Haha

But the point allows for getting into corners (think like a wooden door).

If you're just sanding something completely flat, then this wouldn't be the proper tool.
