Out of curiosity, what Govee products (model codes) have you owned that make you say this? The experience of most people here has been the opposite.

💯 agree. I have been super pleased with govee products, both indoor and out. My govee lynx dream outdoor lights have weathered the storm and then some. When I go to the app/use their products..they simply work, every time. And at the right price point..they can not be beat. Thanks for the post 👍

Correct me if I'm wrong but Govee has two different floor lamps. This one and the Lyra. It's my understanding that the Lyra is the recommended of the two … and to avoid this posted lamp.

their product may be affordable, but their API for using their Wi-Fi services is completely unreliable. I've had, both, my Home Assistant connection and the Alexa skill completely break for extended periods.

if you're interested in the Wi-Fi capability: stay away from Govee.
I have to agree with this. I have so many things that are govee and their wifi on several items I have will not connect. I reset the connection and nothing. I renamed the 2.4 to a seperate name and reconnected to that wifi and still nothing. No problem with bluetooth, but wifi is becoming a big issue since I use alexa to turn things on and off. Sadly, govee is the only reputable smart bulb that is a reasonable cost. Hue is just so expensive.

Look at their boxes…they are absolutely ripping off the design of Philips Hue products.

There are other realistic concerns in this thread that people are voicing and they are getting downvoted into oblivion. The Govee shills are out in full force.

I don't have a basement. I would absolutely like one though.
You sound like a Philips fanboy, lol. Govee makes significantly better products that integrate with other Govee products seamlessly with Dreamview.

why is this trending on Tiktok and other websites? is it even that great of a light?
TikTok is a marketing platform using real people that get paid. 80% of all social media content are like that.

Govee products imo are pretty reasonably priced and very reliable. Their customer service is great too!

I have this light. I wish it had more presets as there are only a few that I use with the rest looking rough. Still, it's great for illuminating my living room. I'd consider getting two but I'm thinking it'd be overkill.

From a long time Philips Hue user with more than 20+ light products at home, I have to say Govee is really a good competitor, certain things I will still go with Hue but Govee has been great for my experience, I have light strips, play lights, TV light is amazing for the performance and price. Love it

Damn glad I read this. I didn't realize this was a diff version. The Lyra is the shiz. This one is shit. Additionally, this is on Amazon prime for $59. Not a slick deal.

So I'm on the other side of this... bought 3x permanent roof lights back on thanksgiving and integrated with HA and it's been flawless. I also added 2x of their flood lights back in January. And even tied it with Hue recessed BR30 bulbs. Colors doesnt exactly match with Hue but unless its the holidays, I usually keep it at 3000k and have dimmed.

It's been on every night since then and have it tied to motion sensor (so random on/off throughout the evening). And its been working as expected.

I dont use the app unless its the for holiday colors (they have nice scenes which cant replicated on HA). Otherwise automations and controls are handled through HA.

Tempted on getting this for my first indoor govee...
Permanent roof lights??

Tysm. This is exactly the information that I needed. It's baffling the extent to which some people trust such iot devices. Giving them full access to the Internet and to their home networks.

"Only" is 50% more expensive. Not worth it IMO.

Your thought process is complete mush.

You're getting down on them for... advertising?

None of their products are "knockoffs"... who do you think they're mimicking?

As for tracking, get real. Your basement isn't that interesting.
100% knock off of Philips Hue just like any other Chinese branded. They are knock offs of the name brand - that is how business works in China. You *must* agree to a 50/50 partnership with a Chinese owned company (CCP controlled) which also allows the Chinese manufacturer access to your IP.

If you think 'tracking' has anything to do with your basement - again - you are ill informed as to what data from these apps is used for. Think bigger than your 'basement'.
