But with a callout
> Need to call out that Model 3 is a base RWD Model 3 vs Polestar with the free Dual Motor / Pilot upgrade. Also taxes and fees are excluded.
I like EV's a lot (currently own 2)… rented a Polestar 2 for a week while traveling and really hated it. Felt super small inside and did not make good use of the interior space like most other EV's do. We had heard good things about Polestars and were surprised how much we didn't like it. It was such a treat to return home to our Bolt EUV.

2300 all inclusive drive off (also includes first payment), $345 a month x 26 months for the blue exterior (the only upgrade) dual motor, taxes and fee included. SoCal.
Ah that's nice. I'd move to 0 down even if your monthly goes up a little. I hear that if your car gets into an accident you basically just lose the entire down payment, so it's better to put 0 down.

For us the 2k came right off the down payment. Interesting about the down payment, do you have a reference for that? We're picking up tomorrow and can still play with the slider. Plus 5+ % in a CD during the lease time too helps.
Is it OK to use the supplied charger to connect to the dryer outlet for a 240v fast charging? As long as I use the correct converter that fits?
As long as you plug it in and never unplug it. But if you are going to be going back and forth, and plugging in the EV, then plugging in the dryer, you will melt the receptacle. Because the contacts in a residential receptacle that hold the pins of the plug will get loose and start creating resistance (and overheating) and potentially arcing that will melt the receptacle. Also, on cheap residential dryer receptables the contacts only go about halfway the width of the pin, they don't even run the full width of the pin. The receptacle for the dryer is meant to plug in a dryer, then never unplug it for 10 years until you replace the dryer.
If you are going to be unplugging/plugging/unplugging/plugging daily alternating between EV and dryer, then you should upgrade the residential receptacle to an industrial receptacle that is made to have things continually plugged and unplugged.
yeah I'm sick of the BS honestly. Just trying to get info on a car results in dealers hounding me. To be fair, the polestar one has left me alone the most.
Yeah tbh, after dealing with direct to consumer type model where everyone pays the same price, I would be hard pressed to go back to a tradtional dealer.

Chinese car imports to the US are already subject to an additional 25 percent import tariff on top of the 2.5 percent tariff that applies to any car imported to the US. And Chinese brands have yet to enter the US market. If enacted this week, the new 102.5 percent tariffs would apply to Polestar and Lotus, both of which currently build their US-market EVs in China. - https://arstechnica.com/cars/2024...this-week/
The MSRP for this vehicle is inflated with the 25% + 2.5% import tariff due to it being made in China. This could increase to 102.5% later this week. Polestar will need to get their South Carolina factory up and running soon if they want to stay in business here.

Yes, but Polestar isn't going to make cheap Chinese EV's like the Polestar 2 here.
They are going to make the Polestar 3, which is going to be more of a luxury flagship vehicle like the Volvo EC90 that's going to be like $80,000+.
History has shown, that cheap cars aren't profitable in the U.S., when most Americans want big, luxurious, SUV tanks. Yes, some of use want smaller economical cars, but they just aren't profitable. So not sure if Polestar or any Chinese company is going to make cheap (sub-$20,000) cars here.
Not to argue, Chinese do make cheap EVs, but after seeing some of the youtube videos they don't feel cheap at all (I mean the interior, not sure about mechanical stuff)

When I say cheap EV, I don't mean cheap quality, I mean cheap price tag.
Exactly my point is the L9 in the video in your link. That EV is about $60,000 US Dollars, directly converted from Chinese Yuan sales price sold in China to USD.
Making that in the US (or even making it in China that meets all the US safety standards and importing it), you can bump that up to at least $70,000+.
So that is not a cheap Chinese EV. That is an expensive luxury EV.
When I say cheap Chinese EV, I'm talking about EVs in the $20,000 range (like they have in China). I think that we will never see those in the U.S. Because they won't be able to produce and sell those here and make a profit on them.
Polestar follows the same model of sales as Tesla (as far as I'm aware). Have not had the sales people hound me (have gotten a few emails, but that's it). I don't think they sold my phone or email to other dealerships because otherwise I should have seen a spike in spam emails/calls after I registered interest in the Polestar.
Got mine today in SoCal. Pretty smooth process. Still required to go in and sign papers but nothing like the last time we had to buy a car.
Dealer told us the car comes with 4 years of Wi-Fi. Has anyone been able to confirm this? I can't find anything on the web site
Ask if the Dealer will put it in writing on the itemization of purchase in the purchase agreement, which is a contract between you and the dealer that finalizes the terms of your car purchase. Or somewhere in writing that shows the various options/upgrade/accessories.
At least that way if the Dealer put it in writing that they are contractually obligated to provide you with 4 years Wi-Fi, and they don't. Then they are in breach of contract, and you would have some negotiating power with that piece of paper.

I looked on the website and I was able to see three years of connectivity included. Took a picture but can't seem to be able to post it on here

The original plan was to start charging after 3 years, but Polestar hasn't been able to put together a system to charge users a monthly fee (is my understanding from reading various forums).
Data will be definitely free/included through the 27 month lease period.

It doesn't say you will definitely not get the money back, but says:
> There is no guarantee you will get your down payment back
