Movement is from the dated 7s series, which means no hacking (seconds hand will not stop when the crown is pulled) and no hand winding supported. They are very reliable and will last longer than most would own the watch. A replacement movement is cheap and easily sourced in the current market.

You can get shockingly good quality and fit/finish in the $100-200 range with San Martin and the like now. Sapphire, ceramic bezel, Seiko NH35 movement (made by TMI, subsidiary of Seiko, I opened them up and checked).
Some have done comparison vids on Youtube of a San Martin vs actual Rolex in terms of microscoped-in finishing comparison, and they're shockingly similar for a 100x difference in price.
Not everyone's cup of tea, but for someone who is simply looking for the most brutally good value with out guilt regarding "homage" designs and the like, those Chinese Aliexpress watches are unbeatable and really surprised me with their quality.

Definitely agree Chinese watches are a tremendous value (even though they're creeping up in price also), just bear in mind many of them are direct clones/homages. I had an Octopus Kraken Pelagos clone a while back that was full titanium and kept great time. Almost sad i sold it

What does this have to do with the op watch?
Check out Seiko Presage Cocktail series....those are beautiful dress watch between 300-500 categories.
Seiko SUR series are another hidden gems that are around 150-400 price range.
Tbh...even if you buy something that were manufactured in early 2000s for like 100 bucks new off ebay, they are still that good.
There's plenty of good Seiko watches to choose from in the sub 500 categories on the market, have absolutely no idea what peoples are complaining about at all. You just need to know where to look.
