If it was the best you wouldn't need one every 2-3 years
With such a small size all wireless earbuds will start dying around 3 years with heavy use.
Bought these in February and have enjoyed them. And yes they are comfortable, apparently more than newer & Pro models. Avoided AirPods for years because I thought they would have the same lacking amount of bass as the default Apple headphones that come with iPhones, but no, the bass is well-rounded. Having text messages read to you as they come in is a cool feature. You also can't beat the clarity of making phone calls with AirPods versus the speaker phone on your iPhone. At this price I think it's a great value. I went ahead and did the AppleCare+ on these too, which was $30 for I think 2 years. Hope this helps someone.

Batteries die and some people buy a NEW pair if they don't want to bother with batteries replacement. Also, cosmetic wear & tear. On top of that, they get dirty too.

don't forget dropping it and eventually it breaks. 2-3 years and a new one sounds fine.

Same. Waste of money. Audio quality isn't really an improvement, I prefer the open air sound vs the silicone plugs, and mic issues on the Pros make phone calls so irritating. I prefer to go back and use my old pair of these vs my new Pros.

Bought a shitty used pair on Marketplace and realized how HUGE of a convenience these are with Siri integration…with these, you can MUMBLE "Hey, Siri", and the bitch responds!

I washing dishes while training the new station I created on Pandora, so I had a recurring 3 minute timer to remind me to thumbs up or down the song(s). It goes off, so I kindly ask Siri to stop the timer, then I love or hate the song, then start the timer again. My bff texts me something unimportant, and instead of drying off my hands to pull my phone out of my pocket, unlock it and reply, I use Siri to reply, and we carry the convo along throughout the set of dishes. Not to mention, volume up/down, skipping songs, and REALLY great microphone for calls. Oh yeah, and because she reads my text messages, when I buy shit, and CapitalOne texts me, I get my new balance spoken to me.

Initially, I didn't want to pay any more than $40 to look like a "trendy Woodlands kid" (H-town area), but now, I wear these almost all damn day long (one at a time; swap & recharge) and would gladly pay $80 for another set. If you're an iPhone user without these, you're seriously missing out on a minimal expenditure to make your life exponentially easier.

Picked these up for my daughters. Since these just sit inside the ears, they tend to fall off bit easily with any movement - e.g. even if mowing the lawn / emptying the lawn mower bag. So we are now looking for recommendations for foam / silicone earpieces that can help these fit better / more snugly without affecting the sound quality too much?

Thanks in advance for any input,
-Topper
yeah they fall out very easily for me. they have a lot of earpieces you can get on amazon. buy a few pairs as they're easily lost unless you have a case holding the airpods and the earpieces together. it seemed like an annoying extra step but now they stay in when i need them to (for workouts, running, etc)

Nothing against OP but this should be the regular price for this product.

In my opinion, half of the stuff that makes it to FP are not really slick/FP deals!!

This is my humble suggestion: If popular products don't beat their Black Friday prices, they should not make it to the FP!
So, if this deal weren't posted, all those (including me) that bought them after seeing it here would have "missed" it.
I don't mind seeing it as FP or slick deal. If it's not good enough or regular price, I move on.

Lightning connector, instead of USB-C. If that matters

As a life long sufferer who up until recently was unable to wear any kind of earbud due to them falling out immediately with any sort of head movement - there's likely a few options you can try with our without success for relatively cheap so you can try differen't types of solutions until you find one that works.
  • You can try the slip on foam/silicone earpieces of different sizes (smaller typically improves the issue for most people). Faux Airpod Pro tips.
  • The angle at which you insert/twist/wear them versus what you would imagine the 'norm' can help if the fit issue is minor. Some people swear wearing them 180 degrees flipped was night and day for them.
  • Tape. Not joking. Not a fan but there's quite a few 'strips' and 'grips' you can buy on amazon that keep the pod in your ear and supposedly have a decently long wear life before needing replaced. Comfort is the sacrifice here (for me anyways). Supposedley newer brands/strips are less noticeable.
  • If aesthetics or true wireless isn't a necessity - they make magnetic bands that help keep them in ear a bit more - but main draw is not losing them. Think Croakies for Airpods?
  • They also make wrap around ear bands for ear respective ear as well - "workout/gym style".
  • And the one and only thing that's ever worked for me: "Silicone ear hooks/wing tips". These are slip ons that create the "tail" like look coming off the top of the pod. Similar look to if you wore them upside down like mentioned earlier. Not saying these are definitely going to be the solve for you - but think it's an easy alternative to overlook (I certainly did for a while). IMO at first glance in the lineup of other options these looked the most gimmicky/stupid (not knowing why they worked)- which made it even more surprising what a difference they made. The 'hook' catches the upper curve in your ear and keeps them more secure and at/in the right angle in your canal (if that is your issue - definetly was mine).
IMO if its a big issue for you just buy very cheap versions of each kind and see what has the biggest impact/solves the issue. Once narrowed down you can buy a higher quality/mixed alternative that will last you longer and be even more effective.

Looks like I was eligible for the Discover promo for another $10 off at Amazon. For $70, I guess it's a good time to grab a spare.

Thanks for the link, I had a 40% off coupon. I didn't know I had.

I suggest you try a better pair of ear buds, these absolute suck. I'm serious. The Walmart buds actually sound better.

Any estimates on when these will discontinue? I also like these more than the newer ones and would like to have a couple pairs backed up
