Isn't that pretty much every brand? I have yet to see a brand that someone doesn't complain about. Dell, Lenovo, asus, hp, etc. Literally every single brand. I follow these laptop posts religiously.
Thanks OP. Btw it's also touchscreen!
I used the old SD moto...Buy now and think later. Since it's not even in stock yet, I will have time to do my research. Great price if it ships.

I have been following these laptop posts for months. I can't believe the one I pull the trigger on is not posted by Dr. Wajahat.
Got this over a month ago. Very nice laptop. Antiglare ads a bit of that fuzz, but colors are incredibly accurate. Works really well. Charges fast and holds a charge a long time. Very nice laptop.

How did you update the bios? Is there a software installed on the pc or you had to download it on their website?
Downloaded from Acer site. There probably is/was something on the machine in all the acer utilities but I nuked those. Went to https://www.acer.com/us-en/suppor...ct-support, entered serial number and it returned a list of software, firmware, docs, and drivers. I grabbed the latest firmware. I'm generally leery of firmware updates, but I figure if this breaks/bricks anything I still have time to send it back. So far it's working well.

Actually, on the list of BIOS revisions, the version before the one you installed is 1.06 (09/23) and the notes say "Fixed delete key no function while holding".

Hilarious. Not sure how I didn't notice that (and also odd that it doesn't show up in any web searches). Sleep deprivation is real, kids.

Was at Costco today and saw that the LG Gram 17 was marked down to $500 (display unit), so bought that too.

Very similar specs, thickness and weight, but the Gram is huge compared to the Acer. The 17 inch 16:10 2560x1600 screen is awesome.

Having fun playing with both. The Swift wins on portability, and the Gram on usability.

Well if you travel at all, then it's the 14". That 17" will not fit in most hotel safes.

Got mine delivered a couple days ago. Getting ready to open it and install the latest BIOS to fix the odd delete key issue. Intended for a kid heading to college.

Unless the kid will be traumatized by not having a partially-eaten apple on the lid, this one will be great for that!

I didn't do a clean install yet. Plan to do it this weekend, and will probably installing Windows 10 (not 11). And yes, I will download all necessary drivers beforehand.
Did a clean install of Windows 10 on it. Took a while to get all the drivers loaded and everything to work properly. Then I hit a snag, the Wi-Fi could not see the 6GHz network - only 2.4 & 5 GHz networks are detected. Wasted half a day trying to troubleshoot, tried various driver versions (both Intel & Killer) and configurations but nothing worked. Finally gave up and reverted back to Windows 11.

Did a clean install of Windows 11. Installed the Wi-Fi driver and it could see and connect to the 6GHz network. And automatically detected and installed the drivers for everything else. Only driver I had to install manually was the Realtek HD Audio Driver.

Also, it could just be my feeling, the system seems to boot a bit quicker and feels snappier with Windows 11 than Windows 10. Anyway, bottom-line is I am quite happy with the laptop.

Any particular reason you chose to downgrade to 10 ?

I'm on the fence on keeping this. Have an existing machine that is fine but getting older. Also not as well spec'd as this one. Someone convince me why I should keep and what to do with the old machine?

Windows 10 LTSC, more familiar and stable. Tried and tested.

Not familiar with Windows 11, and all the talk about bloatware, increased telemetry put me off.

But I guess it is time I upgraded. Also Windows 11 LTSC will be released later this year. So I guess the OS has matured and reached the stability criteria or whatever it is they need to release a LTSC version.

Buddy if you need someone to convince you to keep it, you surely don't need it!

If you don't feel strongly about it, don't keep it. There are always more deals in the future. Laptops with the new Intel Ultra CPUs are coming out, so the older CPUs are being clearance-d out in stores. You can get an even better spec-ed laptop by waiting.
