Looks like the window Air conditioner unit will be on the next coupon book. I may buy one now and just ask for a price adjustment unless anyone has had trouble in the past asking for a refund?

You open the window and close it on the AC unit. It also has a platform it rests on

I drilled no holes and the thing can't go anywhere. It's easier than any other AC I've used and I have zero fears of dropping it out the window

Honestly confused why anyone thinks this is difficult to install especially compared to conventional styles. And especially considering how much smaller and lighter this type is
When are they coming out with a U-shaped AC with heat pump?
opposite experience. ours cooled better than anything we had prior. and we left it installed for 2 winters now. living in the northeast.. the u shape version makes that possible.

not sure what would make it a pain to uninstall though. the install for us was 10x easier than a traditional ac since it has a built in stand.

They have. I've used in NYC and they are a game changer.

What's the price? When they have a contact sales for price, you know its going to be money.

I know there is another company that has a 12000 btu u-shaped one for $700, but i've also never heard of the company.

I wish I could answer the price question. We were the installers for a green initiative in NYC where they outfitted several buildings with these. NYC paid for them so I never saw the cost. They work extremely well though and are whisper quiet.

*HVAC Company Owner. Worked with and seen it all.

This has been working great for me as the days get hotter. We have the smaller 8000 one in the bedroom as well. Life and energy saver.

How much energy/money savings per month are we talking about? debating if it would be worth the eyesore the wife would be getting if I bought one

honest question: Why do these window units only ever support vertically-sliding windows? I've lived in 7 different states across the US (both east and west coast) and have only lived in houses with horizontally-sliding windows. Can these be turned sideways or something and I just never knew? Seems like a big market is getting excluded.

Ya I'm with you on this. It's weird how hard it is to find an ac for a horizontal window, but it does exist. What you're looking for is called a casement window AC.

I have this unit for4 years. Anything over a certain fan speed and you'll have a high-pitch wine. Buyer beware

These are weak. Even though its 12k btu, it trails behind other window ac in cold output. Great for small rooms. But that's why they are eco friendly.

No, you can't. That would mess up the freon. I had to flip my window and do some diy adjustment.

Not sure if it has a heat pump but I'm sure it has heat option on it. I found out also that if I have the temp set and on auto , it will turn the heat option when the temp drops below to what I set it at. I love this midea AC.

I had a 8k in a 10*12 bedroom and it was great. I got another 12k for 10*12 bedroom and it was surprisingly underperforming with high humidity in the room, the 12k would ramp up for a few minutes and down to mild cool air, the room would always feel muggy and never get as cold as the 8k unit. I guess oversized inverters are not a good idea. The 12k is rated for 500sqft.
Although my portable 14k Midea heat pump has been great in that room, so IDK what went wrong with the 12k u shape.

Yeah, I oversized a minisplit in an upstairs bedroom and it struggles to dehumidify. Much regret

HVAC pros are scamming people on heat pump installs. They're just air conditioners! And ductless at that! They are easier to install than conventional central ac and thus should be cheaper to install. It's b.s. it's way cheaper to just buy two complete mini split systems, install one, and keep the other one for replacement parts than to hire a contractor.
Yup I agree. Friend of mine couldn't afford the $8000 hvac quote to replace his old unit. Instead he opted for 3 of these 12k Midea units and set the fan on his furnace come on 20 mins every hour to circulate the air in the house evenly.

I tried researching last time the Midea inverter 8000 BTU was on sale but couldn't really find definite answer--

Any experts out there can tell me whether I can use window a/c units as through the wall? We bought a house where the previous owner converted the carport into a room and built a hole for the current a/c unit. It's pretty old and grimy so I was thinking it'd be good to buy in advance anyway. I'm in Florida--that thing is going to be run 24 hours if only to regulate humidity.

I am in the same boat. Really want dehumidifier function to be truly effective.
