I spent some time reading about this saw, and it gets pretty good reviews as a homeowner chainsaw. Reviews say it's a little heavy because it has more metal components than other comparable homeowner saws. No it's not a Swedish made Husqvarna, but it's also not priced like one.
20 inch bar, reputable brand, case included, at this price... this is a great find OP.
What the what??? Let's take a look at each of your points above:
- Battery power chainsaws still need chain tension adjusted
- Battery power chainsaws still need bar oil to be monitored and refilled
- Comes with oil mix for 1 gallon gas = super simple to refuel
- Since when does a new saw's carb need to be adjusted? Mine worked perfectly out of box.
- Battery power chainsaws still need chains to be sharpened after significant use

Agreed with your initial point that "24" is a big tree for a new chainsaw user", but none of your points back this up! Going with a battery-powered chainsaw rather than gas does not make cutting a tree easier or safer than gas for a novice or an expert.

The filter on this thing is horrible. You will need to accommodate for the bad filter by using a nylon or something or the sawdust will get it into the carberator

So I am not allowed to look at non-Echo branded saws? I prefer Echo for their lower priced parts and longevity. Stihl owns Zama carburetors and charges a pretty penny for them. Husqvarna also uses Zama carbs. Echo uses Walbro carbs that are less expensive and very functional. I have a 575xp. My preference is Echo for the above reasons. Stihl, Husqvarna, Red Max, Shindaiwa and Echo are great brands and have strong points. I find it fun to look at posts for chainsaws.
thanks. you picked some good brands, but i doubt this craftsman is one of them. the cheap Poulan wild thing should be one to stay away from, i haven't tried to run mine in years.

my Stihl is good, most people seem to do ok with them. Echo is also excellent as well as Husqvarna.

for those who want to try battery saws, i find the value of them is in winter time and small pruning jobs. my Makita is ok, but it jambs up a lot and has to be cleaned and adjusted frequently.

still looking for a pain free saw. it may be in the Echo or Stihl Pro line; not that i need one as a consumer

I store all my engines with stable and have not had any problems in 40 years. I hope the canned gas works for you since it doesn't work for some people:

seems to work for me, but i shake it first. water tends to accumulate...

here is a comment from your video...

The biggest problem that I have seen with 2 cycle fuel is that people do not shake up thd mixture they made themselves or the pre-mixed stuff before using it everytime. The oil will seperate from the gas after awhile. You have to shake up the mixture.

The reason I like Echo is that many times they keep some of their parts for a long time. I am able to get a few parts for my 1980 echo trimmer. I wish I knew something about how many years back Stihl keeps their parts. Hate the way the new carbs have omitted the high rev screw on the outside of the part. What do you mean by pain free saw? Too much vibration or easier to care for?

Glad it works for you. Chicanic recommends ethanol shield. I may try it since it is half price for 8 oz ($5). A little pricey compared to stabil.

Not sure why so much hate on Poulan. Maybe the new stuff is trash but I have a 42cc Poulan pro with the standard 18" bar. I'm gonna guess it's over 15 years old and I use it fairly regularly. I lightly file the chain every 2 tank fulls and use good 2 cycle oil and ethanol free gas. I have had to adjust the carb every 2 years or so (simple tune). Starts easy on the second pull. If you are going to own a chainsaw (or any 2 cycle product) you need to learn how to maintain it.

Sure I wish I had a Stihl 500i but I don't have $1700 to spend.
I use my 10yr old Poulan 42cc w/18" bar for small jobs and trim work. It pulls easier than my Stihl MS250 to start, a bit lighter too. (Not near as powerful as the MS250 though.) But with a sharp chain and good gas it has never failed me. It's a tool for a different size job than the Stihl is all.

Locally, the premium gas option at the pump notes that it is ethanol free. It is the only of the three unleaded options that notes this. Regular and mid-grade gas options "may contain up to 10% ethanol".

easier to care for.

i use an Echo trimmer, great machine. the consumer model is fine, but many will say the Pro line is worth the money.

the Echo chain saw has turned my head with interest, may have to get one and see. what most people want is a truly easy to start and easy to maintain system.

so far, not happening.

for me, the Engineered gas has made the difference. i store my saw and trimmer with the 2 stroke mix and no problems. Stihl says to keep the mix in or the pump dries out. never leave Ethanol in any motor thru the winter, or you cry.

wish i had ethanol free near me, it destroy everything it touches.

Look this saw is definitely a good deal for the average homeowner / rare user. But you have to know how to maintain it. My point is that for rare use (1-2/yr) a battery saw may be a better option only from a frustration standpoint.

Also a lot of people are saying that there are alot of 1 star reviews, etc. If you read them it is clear most of the complaints are from user error/ignorance and lack of maintenance. You leave a chainsaw gassed up and in it's case for 2 years, it's not gonna start. But the battery Milwaukee will run.

everybody different. if you have acres, better have more than one saw.

i use both kinds, but my Makita cordless i use the most. too bad it jams up so easily, i spend more time cleaning the drive out then using it some days.

the small 14 inch chains are very cheap if you upgrade the saw bar width from the OEM supplied. hint

My 1978 echo cs701 with a 2 ft bar still runs. It doesn't have the speed of my Husqvarna but it is a good slow and steady saw that is reliable. It is my backup that still has points since I haven't converted it to electronic ignition. You can buy echo and Husqvarna parts online. Stihl not so much. Not knocking your use of canned fuel but I have left sta-bil fuel in my engines during the winter and just recently had to to a carb kit in the 44 yearly trimmer.
By easy to start do you mean 3 pulls after sitting in the winter or you are tired of messing with engines that take 20 minutes to get started after their hibernation? My old Briggs IC 5hp sprayer engine takes about 10 to 15 pulls to get it started once a year. Would that qualify as stubborn? Sounds like you take care or your equipment.

all i did was put a small amount of Engineered 2 stroke gas in.

this week, i added more Engineered gas, but shook the can very well because water may have accumulated.

it started with full choke and died, then half choke and ran. surprised me because i don't like two stroke engines.

echo weed wacker was the same thing. i only use real gas if i have a lot to do, other than that it is canned pre mix gas.

so far works.

Edit, this also works by running out the Ethanol out of your equipment and storing it with pure Engineered gas. Ethanol should never be stored in equipment; it costs more short run but no carb problems.

Under 3 pulls sounds decent to me. When my 17 year old Husqvarna's ignition coil was dying before I replaced it I was pulling about 10 to 15 times.

a volunteer group of log splitters i worked for used Husqvarna and very little Stihl. i keep my mind open to what is out there, as the years pass, i get a little wiser.

i don't know if the equipment is getting better and wiser though. lately i have been getting some cheap chain off from amazon, got some yesterday and will see if it matters. my preference now is for smaller equipment, amazon has tons of supplies for that.
