The point is that the emulator scene is going to be hurting for a long time and development will slow since Nintendo has been successful in issuing thousands of takedown notices for Yuzi repositories and had success with a very strong injunction.
No one will be making money and paying for their time to further development with the likes of patreon again.
Frankly good on nintendo. While I feel strongly I should be able to play games I bought in the 80s and 90s easily. I don't think people should be able to play current generation and certainly not prerelease nintendo games on their PC. The blatant and rampant piracy isn't right. It should be delicate and subtle

It makes sense. Would you call Demon Souls/Dark Souls a "soulslike"? No. because it isn't a soulslike. its the game that started the genre. And for that same reason I wouldn't call metroid or castlevania a metroidvania either
