845 is supposed to be their flagship tool, but from independent tests I've seen, while it is marginally faster, the 850 actually has a bit more torque. If you're doing hundreds of fasteners one right after another, you might notice the speed advantage of the 845 or incredibly tough jobs you might see the torque advantage of the 850. Truth be told though, either tool is fine (or even overkill) for 99% of people.

That said, personally I would (and did) go with the 850 for two reasons. The size is significantly more compact (1.1 inches shorter). It's also a bit lighter (only ~2 oz, but it feels 3-4 oz lighter in hand, likely because with the shorter nose, there's less leverage to the weight). Those factors mean that you can get into tight spots easier and longer jobs are a bit less taxing.
Personally, the extra $10 for peace of mind at home depot makes more sense to me. Woot's customer service leaves a lot to be desired in my experience. If you taken to get a fluke problem tool or battery and you find out a minute too late, you've lost your money, IMHO, and that doesn't even account for model differences that OP pointed out above.

Thank you! I live in the south and I wanted to get the fan to use when power goes off. I was going to order the fan, but it doesn't come with batteries! I guess I also need to get a charger too. Just wanted to make sure.
This might be a good battery kit for your needs [woot.com]. Two 5 Ah batteries and a charger for $118. You should get almost 12 hours on high out of each battery.
