So
Whoever came up with this name really wasn't thinking about the American market.... Were they?
They picked the name for catchy viral "meme" potential. They started out from nothing and built themselves up into one of the more popular Internet audio brands.

It was originally a joke for vegan redditors and the brand was beloved for years until people finally realized that their products actually *are* overpriced shit.

I own several components of theirs for over a decade. They are fairly priced, made in the US and have very good support for their products. I also have owned audiophile products made in the US and Chifi products. The Chifi products are much cheaper, built to use and dispose of and generally worth purchasing on the lower cost end of things. (think disposable, if it breaks, throw it away and buy another.) For the costlier products, you want it to last and also have support. Several of my Schiit products I have owned and used for around a decade and havent found anything in the same ballpark that is better. So I think it fair to give them credit where it is due,

Not sure they started out from nothing. Mike Moffat was with Theta. Is/was considered to be a well respected brand despite rebadging a pioneer laserdisc player and marking it up 10x. http://www.lampizator.eu/lampizat...theta.html

Schitt has used names from Norse mythology since they started the company. I highly doubt they had memes on their mind when they made that decision.
Feel free to enjoy chi-fi amps that promise million watts for 50 bones
Buy two Fosi Audio V3 Mono class D for about a quarter altogether of what the Schitt costs and have more than twice the power per channel while still wonderfully clean. There's no reason at all to buy this Schitt amp. None at all.
If I do ever go separates again, which is unlikely, then I'd want something a lot more powerful to run a pair of Salon2s, M2s, or similar. Then I'm looking at a stack of amps, most likely, which is why I like AIO.

Many high end brands are made in China and they don't suffer from being shoddy. It's not about where it's made but the original specs and component quality.
