Lmao at the bad reviews.

"I had this for 3 years and it stopped working. They told me it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. I'll never buy anything from them again."

"I bought this and it didn't work so I didn't do anything about it. A year and a half later I tried to get it replaced but they told me it was out of warranty. This is a terrible company."

Best price I've seen on anything this size. I don't even need it and I'm tempted. Damn you slick deals!

My goal this summer is to explain on every one of these electronic cooler posts is if you don't need a fridge and freezer at the same time (I suggest you think hard) then get one with just one compartment. You lose a MASSIVE amount of space because of that divider. It's not just the physical space that the device occupies, it's the loss of space due to size constraints that can go into each. Think before you buy.

Right, these dual coolers are for vanlifers where this is literally their fridge and freezer.

I bought the 48qt Newaire Cooler on a Slickdeal for $200 back in September. A few thoughts on my experience which might be relevant.

1. Dual zones is nicer than I anticipated. It's nice to be able to keep some stuff frozen, particularly for longer trips. And you can still use the entire thing for refrigerator or freezer if needed. It doesn't look like this has that feature.

2. It's more space than I expected. On paper the 48qt. is smaller than our 55/60qt coolers, but because you're not wasting space with ice it's actually more room overall. It's also nice not having things get soaked by melting ice.

3. I don't see that this one can use a built in battery. I spent about $100 to get the integrated battery for our Newaire, and it's saved our bacon multiple times. While we generally have the cooler attached to a power station/solar, sometimes it comes unplugged or it's not convenient to have plugged in or we took the power station somewhere to charge in prolonged bad weather. The built in battery also has enough capacity to run the cooler overnight (at least in non-horrendously hot weather--we'll see for hotter weather) allowing us to use our power station in the tent at night when we want to.

4. The built in wheels and extendable handle on the Newaire are nice, but we still most often just carry it around away from home (same with other coolers) because wheels and nature frequently don't mix well.

Overall we're really happy we got it.
I got in on the deal too, where did you get the battery?

Good to hear, I use my Mossimo every summer for 30->60 days straight on a solar battery without problems.
So nice to not bother with ice.

I got my mossimo running 24/7 too since my fridge suddenly decided to die on us 2 weeks ago. So while we wait for the replacement fridge it kept my frozen items safely frozen Smilie

Anyone have experience with this cooler vs. BougeRV which is also on sale again?

Inital differences between the two - this is almost 2x the capacity and gets slight colder. No solar panel power ports.

Longevity (e.g compressor) would be good to understand.

Thanks in advance for any input.
I bought the BougeRV one little over a year ago. From the very start, it doesn't cool at all. Put in water bottles and plugged it up. Set it to the coldest to test it out. Never went below 68 (or something high). It was plugged inside my house too where I keep my AC at 74.

I also tested it out in my truck and on a hot Houston summer day, it'll go only 84. They sent me a replacement and did the same. The issue is the lid on the top doesn't have any seal so air just leaks/seeps in and out. I wouldn't go with a BougeRV fridge ever again though their customer service is outstanding!

Shop around. There are a number of compatible batteries. This is the one I ordered; so far so good with about four months of camping.

Here's one from Amazon that I think should work.

Would add that a bigger cooler will have a larger compressor (assumption) and use more electricity when on battery/solar. Also consider that without ice, suprisingly a lot more fits. I bought the Newair and am pleased.

People want to literally use stuff forever and then get a completely new one
So you consider this to be a disposable item. The manufacturer must love you repeat buyers..
