People like to shit on these shelf's and I'm sure in some cases that particle board is just not going to cut it. However, I've had shelves like these for now around 3 years and not one issue with particle board failing nor sagging. I put Costco totes on my shelves and these are in my basement. Humidity varies but I do run dehumidifier during summer time.

The complete description of these on the Walmart site: "WORKPRO 48-Inch 5-Tier Freestanding Shelf with Particle Board Shelves, 800 lb. Capacity, Adult"

For those of us who are tired of childish shelves?

These are quality shelves for dry items. Plenty of capacity for all of our junk.

I have a similar experience with the costco equivalent as the totes untilmately lay on both of the steel rails. The downside to it for me is that 4 of the totes have to ve uncovered in order to fit (in total 6 totes with lids and 4 without lids on the shelves nearest the vertical rail split)

Can't you just adjust the shelf height? Mine has lids on all totes on the shelf.

If you check page 1 of this thread you'll see a picture of the 5 cents of plastic that hold the upper and lower halves together. One of the shelves is supposed to lock the 2 halves together as well, but that means that shelf dictates how much space you have on the lower and upper halves. I was tempted not to not use shelf to join the halves but decided not to risk it as I can't put anything past some of the people with access to my garage 😅 lol

Not sure if you're mechanically inclined at all, but if I were you I'd buy a short piece of right angle iron, I imagine 1-2 ft is going to be minimum order quantity, cut it into 2 inch long pieces, drill some holes, then run bolts through to clamp your shelves together

Thanks, didn't even occur to me due to lack of time. I'll put it on my to-do list; luckily the 4 lidless bins isn't an immediate deal breaker for me otherwise I would have just returned to save myself the hassle.

These are absolutely garbage. Not worth even remotely anything near $80.

Edit: had a stroke typing this

For those that don't have a Sam's club membership is the Costco shelves the best option for $120?
If you are referring to the Whalen brand that is rated at 1,000 pound PER SHELF, then yes, absolutely. I was lucky enough to grab 3 of them on sale for $40 each about 8-9 years ago and they have held up great. I have them in a half subterranean garage that has a dehumidifier running most of the year and there has been no warping or anything. They are very heavy to transport and take a little time to put together but I highly recommend them.
