Lowest price I've seen on the mini Cobras in some time. The Knipex XS mini sister pliers wrench version has gotten outrageous - latest price on that is about $49!

Of course, but only if you have the space for it and need more leverage than the little guys can produce. But then why stop at 5"? Why not the 7-1/4", or 10", or 12" or 14" or ???
They make multiple sizes of these, from teeny tiny to great big huge, for valid reasons. Which ones you choose is completely up to your particular needs.
Different tools for different applications, my friend. This one is vastly more useful to me working underneath dishwashers or other tight spaces than my 5" knipex is, just as the 5" is more appropriate for other needs.
It's also currently $29.39 sold and shipped by Amazon.com...still a good price and you don't have to wait a couple weeks for shipping

Who is old enough to enlighten me on how these are used for a water pump
Back in the day, prior to the internet and computerized engines, there was a component on the front of the engines which was readily accessible and only required the removal of a hose with a pair of pliers and a ratchet wrench called a water pump. One would use these pliers on the hose clamp, allow the engine coolant to drain into the ground, pop open a cold one with with a pull tab, remove the pump, and be done in about half an hour. Some might want to sit down to read this next sentence... It didn't require removal of half the engine bay contents to perform the task.

LOL, good story and probably partially true due to the do-it-all nature of these tools, but my grandpappy told me that old car and tractor engine water pumps had rope packing glands around the shaft and that this style of pliers was used to quickly snug up the gland nuts when they inevitably leaked.
Most modern water pumps have press in rubber seals, but I've had a few boats with rope packing on the prop shafts.
You don't know what you are talking about. This is the most useful pliers, pipe pliers, adjustable wrench human ever made, the only other such a thing is the Knipex Pliers Wrench XS. They are tiny, but the job they can get done can be HUGE, in addition to tiny jobs.
To others: the Knipex pliers wrench XS has no teeth and the lips/jaws are always parallel. Those two characters are gold for many applications. The major downside of the plier wrench: the chrome coating peels off easily. If you don't need 4" ones, you should not spend the extra for "Knipex". For example, the Doyle in Harbor Freight is as good.
I broke 4 of these, with my tiny L sized hands, so I know very well what I'm talking about. I trust the Knippex marketing team is doing well?
