Previously I also did a lot of Metro and Tracfone deals to give to friends and family.

That said I have been burnt enough times and learnt the hard way to stay away from them. At least with Metro the system rejects orders beforehand. With Tracfone the issues happen after you get the phone…if something goes wrong in activation the customer service outrigjt lies and wastes your time .

I saw quite a few comments on "unlocked automatically after 60 days"
That was NOT my case a few months ago, I needed to talk to CSR for unlocking.

I had this phone for about 5 months. The battery sucks, the SOT was about 4 hours on a full charge, and AccuBattery estimated it even lower. The phone heated a lot. Both issues should be caused by Samsung's in house 1380 chipset (fabricated by Samsung as well). I had a OnePlus Nord 20 at the same price range that lasted about 11- 12 hours SOT on a full charge without heating issues.

The camera is good but not splendid. The screen looks good but has lagged touch register/none-register issue. Overall this phone is buggy and not worth the MSRP of $699. $100 seems like a fair price if you don't have other choice.

To be clear, this would unlock to support any North American carrier?
There are several variants of A54. AT&T and their MNVO are picky about which phones they accept, and might not accept a Total/Verizon A54 model. I bought a Metro A54 last May. Initially its IMEI didn't pass AT&T and Verizon Compatibility Check, but after last Sept it passed AT&T, still doesn't pass Verizon as of today.

WELCOME15 takes $42 off the phone, but removes the $230 discount. Was free shipping at checkout for me. That code from coupon sites is a referral code for the rewards which gives you 5000 points, tho you have to wait 2 months for them to be available.

My AT&T number worked fine for verification, tho you don't port in the number yet. You start the port in process once you have the phone and activate it. There is a third party id verification process you have to do to get the $230 discount and requires you to take pictures of your id and provide a picture of your face.
If that last sentence is true then that's way to much work for this POS phone even at $100.

As an A54 5G user, I can tell you that these phones are laggy. Moving around the OS is not quick and smooth. It's very noticeable. I've setup quite a few of these for a client and all have the issue. I Googled it and it does seem to be an issue. I swapped out to an S23 on a deal and it just FLIES! Smoothest phone I've had. Would not do A54 again unless you don't mind a laggy OS.

The A54 is not in the same class as the S23. The S23 costs a lot more. Below are the GeekBench results that I ran on my phones.

Has nothing to do with CPU performance. The laggy OS is some sort of bug in the A54.

Agreed. Laggy and annoying. Sold it a few days later. Samsung real needs to back off the bloatware.

I hate slickdeals. I have 7 phones lying around from the various Total and Metro deals. Why do I buy them? I don't know. Why is it so addictive? I don't know.

I guess those 7 are getting another new friend.
It could be worse you could be addicted gambling or sports betting

Why not just buy a good one that works? Aren't these like the disposable samsungs you can buy off Walmart shelves with a 30 day prepaid card? I haven't tried a cheapie Samsung but no phone (cept tcl; which has about no camera an no file system of value) under $100 or even $500 msrp I've tried does anything but lag an mess up an make it's only value when you get happy from smashing it. An for $100- $500 you can get a 70 inch tv to chop with a sword or axe an its way more fun

Samsung phones (or Android phones in general) are just terrible. Why do they make individual carrier version for their phones? Do iPhones do that?
Cool, let me spend at least 10-times this amount for one of those iPhones, lol.

It's hard to know that isn't it? After all, the same lag comments come out about any A-class phone, though usually only by those who know what something faster feels like. It's hard to believe that the A54, but not the A53, A35, A52, etc has a unique problem.
