Previously I also did a lot of Metro and Tracfone deals to give to friends and family.

That said I have been burnt enough times and learnt the hard way to stay away from them. At least with Metro the system rejects orders beforehand. With Tracfone the issues happen after you get the phone…if something goes wrong in activation the customer service outrigjt lies and wastes your time .

I saw quite a few comments on "unlocked automatically after 60 days"
That was NOT my case a few months ago, I needed to talk to CSR for unlocking.

I had this phone for about 5 months. The battery sucks, the SOT was about 4 hours on a full charge, and AccuBattery estimated it even lower. The phone heated a lot. Both issues should be caused by Samsung's in house 1380 chipset (fabricated by Samsung as well). I had a OnePlus Nord 20 at the same price range that lasted about 11- 12 hours SOT on a full charge without heating issues.

The camera is good but not splendid. The screen looks good but has lagged touch register/none-register issue. Overall this phone is buggy and not worth the MSRP of $699. $100 seems like a fair price if you don't have other choice.

Yes, it works because Visible is using CDMA band.

Other providers who use GSM band are not compatible with this phone even when unlocked.

Here are the phone specs:

Check band and make your decision.

I've noticed lot of them asking if the unlocked phone works on other carriers. Just a heads up for them as to be mindful to what they are signing up for.

Man you're repeating same thing.

Metro is on GSM (Tmobile bought it). I bought A54 from Metro. They unlock it after 180 days and I am using it on Visible 5G i.e. CDMA network.

People told me same thing GSM based A54 won't work on CDMA MVNO.

I want to hear from people with real experience but we have to wait for few months but it should work on at&t and tmobile (their mvno may put some sort of restriction)

Agree 100%. Would love to hear someones experience with similar phones from Verizon/its MVNO, on other carriers.

chatted with total by verizon support, Samsung A54 does not support esim
In what way? A54 does indeed support eSIM on Verizon as that is what I have on my A54 5G w/Verizon.

It's hard to know that isn't it? After all, the same lag comments come out about any A-class phone, though usually only by those who know what something faster feels like. It's hard to believe that the A54, but not the A53, A35, A52, etc has a unique problem.
As an A52 owner, I've been very happy with mine for ~2yrs - its one of the last models with a dedicated headphone jack.

Mine seems very smooth. I would think that some people have different tasks or expectations from a phone, so their mileage my vary.

I use it mainly for productivity - voice calls, track the weather, shop ebay, take pictures. I don't watch movies/video or game on it - I have better suited devices for that.

Fyi, The phone is using CDMA band. So, even of unlocked, other carriers sim may not work due to band incompatible issue.

Other confirmation from chat:
1. Order can be placed now and activated after receiving the phone. I asked for activation after 30 days and they were fine.

2. Phone auto unlocks after 60 days of service

3. Can switch service plan after the first month to a lower tier if required.
Do you know CDMA is for 2G and 3G, not even 4G?

I guess this deal wont work since this is for new customers only. Verizon is smarter now by requiring to sign up with DL lol
Do they allow multiple lines?

Total by Verizon isn't Verizon & doesn't support esim except on recent iPhones after 12 - Tracfone is the same.
It's their policy & doesn't matter if phone is capable, no androids will activate on their network using esim - it's physical sim only until something changes.

I have two iPhone11 lines in one Total account. The 2nd line gets a $20 discount on the plan ($30 for a $50 plan). They probably allow more lines in an account, like Tracfone, but since each ID gets only two discounted deals I didn't buy/add any more Total phones.

I hate slickdeals. I have 7 phones lying around from the various Total and Metro deals. Why do I buy them? I don't know. Why is it so addictive? I don't know.

I guess those 7 are getting another new friend.
I thought I was alone. I thought no one could ever understand. This obsession has consumed me for years, slowly creeping into every corner of my life. It started innocently enough—a fascination with the sleek designs and cutting-edge technology. But what was once a hobby has become an all-consuming addiction.

My wife has a small inkling of my phone fetish, but she doesn't know even a small fraction of it. She sees the occasional new model and raises an eyebrow, but she doesn't see the boxes hidden away in the attic or the countless hours spent trawling online auctions for rare finds. She doesn't know about the nights I've stayed up, heart pounding, waiting to bid on a limited edition model, or the thrill I get when I finally hold a new acquisition in my hands.

The guilt is overwhelming. I know it's irrational, but I can't stop. It's as if these devices hold some power over me, filling a void I can't explain. I've neglected friendships, skipped important events, and spent money we don't have, all to feed this insatiable craving. Each new phone is like a fix, a fleeting moment of euphoria before the hunger sets in again.

My wife sometimes catches snippets of my self-talk, my ramblings about GSM bands, LTE frequencies, and antenna designs. She once found me alone in a compromising situation with my Nokia 5190. She just did a 180-degree turn out of the bedroom, and we never spoke about it again. That moment hangs heavy between us, an unspoken chasm that neither of us knows how to bridge. It's like trying to get a CDMA phone to work on a GSM network—completely incompatible.

On top of everything, I've fallen for some real service traps. I signed up for FreedomPop, lured by their promises of free service, only to end up with scammed charges and SIM cards that offered no service. I also tried to keep ten old Sprint phones running on RingPlus, a doomed endeavor that only worked for a bit before it fizzled out. And then there was the T-Mobile Gold Rewards plan, which I cherished for a decade. Forgetting the annual renewal and losing that plan was a devastating moment in my life, one I still haven't fully recovered from.

I've tried to stop, tried to break free from this cycle, but the pull is too strong. The shame and secrecy only make it worse, driving me deeper into this dark, solitary world. I fear the day my wife discovers the full extent of my obsession. What will she think of me then? Will she understand, or will it be the final straw in our already strained relationship?

I sometimes joke to myself that my love for phones is my only true "unlimited plan," but the reality isn't so amusing. This isn't just a quirky habit or a harmless pastime. It's a relentless compulsion that has taken over my life, and I don't know how to escape. Every day, I struggle with the weight of this secret, praying for a way out, yet dreading the emptiness that might follow if I ever manage to break free.

OMG, thank you so much, del3523, for speaking up. Their post had me shaking my head, wondering if I had misunderstood something. Was my knowledge about the demise of CDMA that far off? I really thought I had misunderstood something and believed them. I was getting ready to search and click on old blogs, questioning how my knowledge of my hobby passion could be this wrong. It wasn't. It turns out it was just someone who must have been trapped on an island for the last several years, with their family believing they had perished after the tragic crash of the FedEx plane.

You turn on the phone and connect it to WiFi network. In menu you will see unlock phone option and once you click on it metro will permanently unlock it.
