Anyone notice the specs on the Book4 Edge with regards to storage? Not SSD, but eUFS. Looks to be a slower memory technology for phones camera storage. $1400 and you get slow storage? Same for the $1750 16" version.
This is the 3rd or 4th attempt, depending on how you count.
First attempt was Surface RT.
Second was Surface Pro X.
Third was Surface Pro 9 (came in x86 and ARM versions).
That said, this seems to the most promising attempt yet. I own a Surface X and it's not even that bad really, so if these are as fast as claimed they should be totally usable for most purposes. I doubt ARM windows is going to completely dominate the market though, as it would be a very hard sell for the gamers or the bargain price low end PC crowd.
You also had to count Windows CE on ARM lol
This time around success is built on how x86 emulation run well on ARM or Not. There zero info on that until late June. I suspect its excellent, Qualcomm would be hyping emulation up or MS isn't fully ready yet.
If it does, Intel /AMD x86 are in their last release.
Intel will try buy time with Ultra Low Power Island Design
For $1700 msrp in 2024 Samsung thought 16gb ram/512gb storage would be good value....they are really trying to have high margins. shouldve been 32GB/2TB

Anyone now more about eUFS?
Yeah, I saw that. Makes no sense since this is really a reworked book4. Although I've seen a couple of the new arm laptops use shorter SSDs 2242. I wonder if the SOC takes up more room and the need to rearrange things to fit.

I have noticed the 2242 thing also. Not promising because there aren't many 2242 SSD's.
It has 45 TOPS on NPU and 75 system TOPS (when including NPU, GPU and CPU). TOPS is Tera operations per second. Higher the TOPS, faster you get the output of ai inference. Currently for each question in OpenAI, sends to server and server inferences your query and pushes back the output. With 40+ TOPS we can run these ai software locally instead of sending your personal data to server. More secure, faster output and can run these software while traveling in airplane.
Comparison with intel meteor lake NPU has 11 tops and system tops of 34. To make use of system tops software need to be fine tuned like CUDA from NVIDIA.
I do not recommend pre-ordering any ARM processor for Windows systems. You never know how good or bad the real preference will be.
+ It's Samsung, so you will likely see a massive promotion within three months after launch. (just like book2,3,4)
I recommend waiting for the process (and promotion) to be reviewed and then making your decision.
I imagine within a few months these laptops will crash in price.
They can't discount them at launch so they're bundling TVs( Best Buy is doing it too).
It doesn't make sense yet, you need developers to make native applicants or you suffer in the battery department.
I went ahead with an X64 laptop for my latest purchase. The recall junk was sorta the last straw for me. I don't see a lot of this AI stuff being good for end consumers.

Thank you, did not expect a detail answer. Many consumers do not understand that this implies you need to run some model locally, and AI sounds like a huge gimmick

It's called clearing inventory to make room for new models
