The bitrate is going to be superior on the disc thus resulting in much better picture/sound quality in difficult areas like grain etc. With streaming, you're at the mercy of your internet provider and the digital provider to stream the best quality. With physical, you always have the best.
Available on Max if you have that streaming service.
For any films or TV series you really love and want to experience in the highest possible quality, having it on physical disc offers a better experience from a technical standpoint versus streaming. Higher consistent bitrates on video and audio, which means a higher quality experience if you have the right equipment. You're also not relying on the stability of an internet connect, which can change. So the picture and the sound are both technically - and sometimes noticeably - better.

Is it such a huge difference that the average person would notice? Probably not with a solid internet connection. But if you're into home theater in a big way, physical media is definitely the way to go almost every time.

Aside from what you mention regarding the off chance of streaming services removing content (which I agree is unlikely with something like Apple or Amazon), there's also the chance for changes to the streaming version. Updates and alterations which may or may not be for the better (removing certain things or entire scenes, changing the color grading, etc). With a physical disc, you have the version originally release. Usually this is a positive thing, but not always.

I buy the physical discs for shows and movie I really, really like. I want to support the creators of the content as well as permanently have a high quality copy in my collection. For other things, I also wait for a price drop and grab the digital version.

It won't be $5 for a couple of years. $10 is a couple of months away.
Warner Bros is really hard up for money. This will be $5 for digital soon and the 4k disc will be $10 by Black Friday.

I use my Xbox Series X or PS5
Just as a heads up, neither console supports Dolby Vision for UHD disks (which is especially odd on Xbox as they do support Dolby Vision on games). This is what made me buy a dedicated 4K BR player.

The first one was very, very boring. Goodness. Haven't watched #2 and don't plan on it because #1 was just so bad.

You must not be watching on a high end screen and audio system. It was far from boring, video was beautiful, and the soundtrack impeccable… some of the funnest subwoofer tests I've heard in awhile!

I wonder if other platforms will match.
The other platforms have it at $20. Dune II is Movies Anywhere compatible so you can buy it on iTunes/Apple TV and it'll port over. https://moviesanywhere.com/movie/...t-two-2024

Price wise probably Panasonic 420 is the best.
It includes HCX and Optimizer like their 820.
The only thing missing is Dolby Vision and by the look of how popular Samsung displays are that's not a big loss.
Dolby Vision is better, for a movie like this you should watch it on a SONY oled or a laser projector with a proper audio system. Try the sound on a Focal or JBL/Klipsh cinema pro and then we talk Smilie. There are home setups like that.

Yes in general DV is better.
Now by how much can vary widely especially with Panny's HCX and Optimizer!

Focal I agree, hard pass on JBL/Klipsch for me though.

You are confused, a subwoofer test doesn't mean the movie was good!!!! PArt one was meh just ok part 2 was just a letdown and I forgot it before the credits even rolled!

Same. I've had my 3 camel price alert up for a while now. Once this sucker hits $15 it's mine. Or I'll cave and get it at $20. Either way, 4k disc FTW.
