I bought 2 already so I know it works.

They do make 110 volt heat pump water heaters now. I'm not sure how widely available they are, but they do make them.
I replaced a 50 gallon gas water heater with a 65 gallon one. It fit fine for me.
The unit is definitely loud enough where I can hear it through in my home office, which shares a wall with the garage. When you're next to it when the heat pump is running it's about as loud as a window AC unit, but that's not something you probably want to hear if your current water heater is setup in your living space.
The EcoNet application is kind of hot garbage. Not only does it frequently become unresponsive, but the scheduling function is useless as it doesn't respect your current time zone (I know it knows where it is, as it shows you your city and current weather in the app). A simple solution would be for the app or control panel on the water heater to show the current clock time of the device. If they'd fix this internal clock issue, I would give these hybrid water heaters 5/5 stars. Until then, I'd still give it 4/5 stars for the magic I described above while living in an area with high cost electricity. This is an amazing price for the unit, if you can get it.
True braves take cold shower without complaint

I agree the EcoNet is pretty garbage; in my experience, if you leave the app running in the background, it won't work again when you reopen the app. I have to hard close the app and for it to work again.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. Not sure why my initial comment was downvoted, I was genuinely asking since I never purchased a water heater before.
Yea if you have a power vent if not no as long as the pilot is on it will come on
In addition to the efficiency of a heat pump, you can use the WiFi to further savings by adjusting or turning off the water heater when you don't need hot water (vacation, work, etc.).
Regarding federal taxes, the 30% credit applies to both the water heater as well as the installation cost.
Those don't have the element also, which might not be a problem if you don't use the full capacity often.
The other comment is talking about the already existing 25C Tax Credit. If you're in no rush and no you qualify based on income, I would wait for NYSERDA to roll out HEAR. You may be eligible for a $1,750 rebate for heat pump water heater.

Use oil here with hot water in one unit, plumbed so I can shut down the oil burner for the summer and run off electricity only. Have solar and batteries so free hot water!
Yes a little noisy but in the basement doesn't bother me. And the basement is nice cool and dry now - big plus!
