Cheap but mixed reviews on Amazon. Anyone have this one specifically?
I purchased one from this deal.
I have no prior knowledge of e-bikes but I really enjoy this one. As someone on the heavier end (just sub-300lbs), I was able to get the bike up to 26 mph in pedal assist mode. Typically going full electric motor, I can get to 21 no problem. The bike feels sturdy and does not feel like the collapsing joints are at risk of being compromised. I am rough on this bike and have hopped a few curbs, driven through potholes, and gone full speed down my apartment complex's terrible dirt lot (plenty of holes).
I haven't ridden a bike in a while and I forgot just how much work the legs do while biking (after working an 8-hour shift in a standing and walking job). The fat tire makes it a chore to pedal on initial take off without any assist. I have found that assist level 3 is plenty to make biking more enjoyable while still providing resistance while pedaling.
There's no suspension on this bike and I've definitely made it a habit to stand whenever I'm about to encounter noticeable turbulence. Having a fat tire helps in some way I'm sure. I replaced the seat with a comfort cruiser-style seat and that has helped tremendously as well. I did have to frankenstein the bike's tilting bike seat mount into the cruiser seat for it to work but it was easy enough to do,
The foldability of the bike was a major selling point for me as my vehicle is an already full short skoolie (bus camper conversion). The bike is still heavy though and if I wasn't in my early 30's, I could easily see myself asking for help moving it to and fro.
As preventative maintenance, I am doing my best to keep the battery's state of charge under 100%. That said, I am unsure of the battery's longevity. Worst case scenario, the cost of this bike plus the cost of purchasing another battery in the future would put me closer to the total cost of a similarly styled ebike from any other brand, sans 2nd battery.
I chose to use my $40 gift card for the rear rack that Aostirmotor sells for this particular bike. There's a single negative review and the guy is complaining because it's not completely level with the ground and he feels like the rack should offer some level of polish. For my needs, I don't require anything pinkies-out fancy and I already have saddlebags to throw on once the rack arrives.
At $437 with a $40 rebate, this offers an incredible deal for a daily driver e-bike.
Only posting in case it goes on sale again and someone finds this message.
