I've had great results, but it seems to depend on a number of things -

First, SteamVR games run off your computer so you need something specced well enough to handle those

Aside from that, I've been able to run stuff like Half Life Alyx and other games without any issues. My setup is fully wireless (PC connected wirelessly to router (10 feet away) and quest 3 connected wirelessly to router (10 feet away) and haven't had issues. At my old apartment that was built in the 50s, even a wired PC gave me issues as the router had trouble getting through single walls.

If you have a modern/Wifi 6 router, have your PC hardwired for ethernet, and keep the quest somewhat close to the router, you should be good. Sometimes you can get away with less (like me, fully wireless and no issues), other times you might need to hardwire your PC to ethernet and be super close to your router. YMMV.

Either way, you can also USB connect the headset instead if you prefer.

For wireless streaming, theres a free Meta Quest airlink software, free SteamVR software, and paid VirtualDesktop software. For most, VirtualDesktop works best.. for some people SteamVR or Airlink works better, so try them all out and see what works for you. If you do end up buying virtualdesktop (or anything else on quest) you can always instant-refund it if it isn't meeting your needs (provided you play it less than 2 weeks/2 hours)

Just bought in Nashua, NH. Plenty left.

Use the link below to check local stock. Should show as $462.97 if it's OP's price in store.

Just grabbed the last one in Temecula. Just an FYI, they're showing $399.97 as their future price, which means any inventory left could go cheaper in the future if it remains in stock at your local warehouse
How do you see the future price?

My Costco same day price is showing as $412 online, so the in store price should be $399. I'm going to go when they open and get a price adjustment if I can.

It's $412 dollars via Instacart for some reason! Really sweet deal since you can stack with instacart gift cards

Was just in Brandon FL Costco, they have 3 in stock.
Signage saying $399 was over the display.
Display has a full set of cards, so maybe they are expecting more units.

I don't track Quest 2, but it appears to be $199 based on website price.

If this PSVR adapter is true it will probably be more cost effective for me to hold off for that one.
I was in the same boat until I saw that PSVR2 PC adapter will be lacking features. (I really don't want to support meta, but I might be able to excuse it if I assume they lose money on each quest sold.)

"Except the PC adapter won't support the use of HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (other than rumble)."

I think that person already has a PSVR2, which is why it would be more cost effective.

For a wired PC connection, is the Meta Quest 3 going to be better than a PSVR2 without those features?

It's a tough one, they both have their tradeoffs.
Quest 3 has better lenses (Pancake) while PSVR2 has better screens (OLED). I've found the PSVR2 tracks the controllers more reliable than Quest3 (the Quest 2 even seemed better than the Q3, for tracking) but it's still rare to have issues. The PSVR2 will require additional wires and take up ports (I have 3x monitors on my PC, so I'd have to unplug one to use the PSVR2 on it, the quest wouldn't need it). The Quest is a bit higher resolution on the lenses. Quest3 is probably more comfortable, at least to me, and has color passthrough if any games support it on PC (PSVR2 is B&W).

It's a tough one -- I would say that the Quest will probably be the easier setup and has more flexibility (you can use it wireless, you can use it wired, you can use different apps) but it will be interesting to see what Sony does with it

Thanks. For what I do, it sounds like they will be similar. The screen resolution difference between the MQ3 and PSVR2 doesnt seem like much. Hopefully the OLED screen will be noticeably better.

I am used to the Quest 2 software. Usually, I use it for my desktop, then open different window applications as tiles that I can place around the room. Hopefully I can do the same with the Steam VR desktop and PSVR2.
