I've had great results, but it seems to depend on a number of things -

First, SteamVR games run off your computer so you need something specced well enough to handle those

Aside from that, I've been able to run stuff like Half Life Alyx and other games without any issues. My setup is fully wireless (PC connected wirelessly to router (10 feet away) and quest 3 connected wirelessly to router (10 feet away) and haven't had issues. At my old apartment that was built in the 50s, even a wired PC gave me issues as the router had trouble getting through single walls.

If you have a modern/Wifi 6 router, have your PC hardwired for ethernet, and keep the quest somewhat close to the router, you should be good. Sometimes you can get away with less (like me, fully wireless and no issues), other times you might need to hardwire your PC to ethernet and be super close to your router. YMMV.

Either way, you can also USB connect the headset instead if you prefer.

For wireless streaming, theres a free Meta Quest airlink software, free SteamVR software, and paid VirtualDesktop software. For most, VirtualDesktop works best.. for some people SteamVR or Airlink works better, so try them all out and see what works for you. If you do end up buying virtualdesktop (or anything else on quest) you can always instant-refund it if it isn't meeting your needs (provided you play it less than 2 weeks/2 hours)

$499 is not regular price w/ the elite strap and case. $640 normally, so $140 off.
Didn't see all that. Just saw the regular with wrath. That's a decent deal

Do yourself a favor and buy the 512gb if you know you will be using vr often and your use is standalone. If you are not sure about vr then you can either pass or buy the 128gb version.

I have the Quest 2 with 256gb and some of the games can take 50+ gb. I guess you only play the small stuff.

Many people buy the AAA Games and how would you feel if you could only load in 4-5 games at a time?

The real issue is the total insult of even putting ONLY 128gb on a $600+ device when making it 256 or even higher would only cost them a few bucks.

The reason they only offer a 128 and 512 is to try and force people into spending a ton of extra cash on the 512 otherwise they would have made a 256 option.

Another issue is why they did not put a memory expansion slot on the device? The reason, of course, is that everyone would have bought the 128 version and popped in a cheap USB or Micro SD card for about $10 instead of the extra $200 they charge for the 512gb version.

It's all business and I'll stick with my Quest 2 until they stop ripping people off for the Quest 3.

BTW since the Quest 3 is more powerful it's only a matter of time before the games all start to use more advanced graphics rather than the 1990's graphics they use now. When that happens and the size of these games go up, that 128gb is not going to cut cheese.
What AAA games lol there's like 4 total that exist for the quest.

Most people will be fine with 128gb of storage.

Drove two hours to Nashville to grab mine. How long did it take to get the $25 store credit and where does it notify you?

I just price matched yesterday. They will do it easily if still in stock however at my location, no joke, someone bought the last 32 headsets and bought the store out. Since it was out of stock the employees gave pushback but the manager was really cool and said just price match it.

If they give push back just ask to void the first one and rering it.
Unfortunately, I'm in a similar situation and need a price adjustment. Could you please share your receipt for the adjustment to help me out?

The $25 credit is in the meta store, and is in your account right away when you set the headset up.

There is buying subjective about it. The things I listed are all better on the 3 than the 2.

What you said was incredibly stupid. Doubling down on that won't make you look less stupid.

It's not all about the CPU/GPU surf bump like you keep incorrectly repeating. Every aspect of the 3 is a little better than the 2. From the visuals to the controllers.

You can try and change the argument to which is the better value but that's just moving the goalposts to save face
Is there a reason you need to personally attack me because we have a difference of opinion on the value of the 3 vs the 2?

Yes the 3 is better than the 2 in most ways. Some more than others depending on what you value.

My point is and remains that the 3 costs 2-3 times the 2 and as such it should be better. Now are you getting 2-3 times the value?

This is like saying a $50k car is better than a $20k car. Of course it is but if all you care about is getting to work, then maybe you do not value spending extra.

The GPU/CPU is greatly improved over the 2. The resolution is "slightly" improved, the screen tech is better. Who cares about rechargeable batteries in the controllers. In fact, I'd rather just pop in a cheap AA that lasts a LONG time. Then you have color vs B/W augmented reality cameras which only matter *IF* you use that.

So keep calling me stupid for not wanting to spend $500 vs $200 for the 3 because it does not have enough storage for my purposes. To get a 3 with enough storage you need to spend $650!

I don't call people stupid for buying the 3. The 3 is a good device. My original post was my "opinion" that 128gb is not enough storage and that they could have doubled that for little extra money. My second post was a response to a question someone asked asking for opinions about the 3 vs the 2.

So you and I differ on opinions. Does that make me stupid?

Just chat'd with Quest Support. I turned off advertisements/notifications and that may have blocked the email link to activate the $25 credit. But the free game email came thru fine. Confused Then, I had to show them the screen shots of SD and Costo... scan my receipt and the $25 card from the bundle to get the customer service rep to manually add it to my account. They mentioned that this "bundle" expired in Dec 2023. So if it don't show, get your items scanned and hit up the support folks.
