I believe if you don't want AppleCare, you can still buy the device and call Apple and have it removed from your account and get a refund. This has been mentioned on previous posts, but I have no experience with us.

For TMO, you just need to have a debit card on file. You can pay with CC before your auto pay debit is scheduled.

If you go onto the Costco website, there is a opportunity to trade in your device. They will not count the value of your device against the purchase price. They will send you a Costco card.

If this is online only, how do you trade in your old phone?

Could be a good save if you have Costco Citi credit card, would give you 2% cash back additional. Overall it looks like a slick deal.

Exactly, that's why I am still using an Android phone.

Getting 4% cash back with the Costco executive membership + Costco Citi card + free apple care, it's a no brainer. Upgrading from a Galaxy S10+ now that Samsung has done away with microsd cards and cool tech like iris scanner/magnetic secure transmission, which set them apart from Apple, they are just Apple clones now. Apple has OLED screens made by Samsung and has actual software updates, which my S10 no longer receives, so might as well jump ship.

The only reason these are selling so high numbers is due to the carrier promotions which they will usually recoup those discounts by the way of expensive monthly service plans.
In most other parts of the world, people have to pay full price upfront and then use a carrier of their choice and they can use inexpensive monthly plans.

I am also not sure why Costco won't sell previous model year phones. I would be interested in getting an unlocked iPhone 13 as it comes with a physical sim tray.

Same price $1000 at apple.com and $370 trade in credit for my 13 pro making in $630 and then using the apple gift cards that I've bought for 15% off. I don't think this is a good deal.

What information they needed in order to refund you? And how do they refund you, gift card?

Exactly, prices have increased over the years for unlocked phones, but so has the top of line androids (ie. galaxy s24+ or pixel pro) so both are pretty comparable in prices.
If you are in market for the iphone 15 pro and can't wait, this is a fabulous deal for unlocked and not dealing with complicated carrier upgrades.

if you read the poster in full, you will see costco bundles Applecare, basically you are getting Applecare for free ($199 savings).
