Can you reach their site [membrane-solutions.com] to try to assess their company/location? I can't.

That doesn't seem encouraging to me, and it's all too common for 'no name' amazon brands to just up and disappear every few years and reappear as another.

They are all shell companies of legit Chinese suppliers. They "disappear" due to policy bans by Amazon, not because they want to. These are the same suppliers who are wholesale shipping to LifeStraw where they are just slapping a fancy label on it and selling for 4x markup. Understand the industry before you speak on it

I'm well aware, thanks for your condescension. These 'no name' companies are often shady operations who also pay for fake reviews, may use sub-par materials in the grey/black-market knockoffs, and your 'warranty' support can just completely evaporate into nothing. That's why I'm looking for info about the company/brand.

You don't have a problem with manufacturers that can't be held accountable?

If you don't want to get talked down to, try wrapping your head around the fact that this item is 4-5x cheaper than the reputable brands with 24/7 customer service and fully formed websites. Did you honestly expect there to not be a trade-off for the price? There should be no outrage for this type of deal because you should not be having your life depend on a $15 product to begin with

I just got done saying your life might depend on a product like this because you'd only use it in a situation where there might be harmful contaminants - if it's a bad knockoff that doesn't do what's advertised, using it as directed puts you at direct risk of harm.

Some knockoffs have been found to use sub-par materials... and your answer is still "this item is 4-5x cheaper"? Houston, we've lost the plot.
