Wow. My birthday coupon expires right before this sale. I would have stacked 5% birthday, 5% red card & 15% registry but was hoping this would have been closer to $300-$350 prior to coupons.
When the all digital X refresh releases, I'll try to get as many of these as I can for $200.
This is basically going to be one of the last 4k blu ray players in history...
I imagine that Microsoft will continue to offer a disc version of the Series X until they stop making them. It's a fairly inexpensive inclusion and it adds a lot of value. I can't be the only person, for whom my gaming console is my only DVD/Blu-Ray player in the house. Sure, I don't use it often to play discs, but it's my only option when I do.
You're right though about the 4k Blu-Rays. Those players are very expensive, which explains why adoption hasn't been strong. The Series X already has all of the processing power that's required, it's literally just the addition of the drive that makes it a competent 4K Blu-Ray player. Even the XBox One S could play 4K Blu-Rays and those are going for cheap now.
Not bad but last year during holiday sales it was $350 for either Diablo IV or Forza 5 bundle. Walmart and Amazon both had that price. Had to jump quickly as it was going in and out of stock.
In my opinion, I wish I would have waited for a Ps5. There are no real series x exclusives, and doesn't appear to be many in the pipeline. I wish I would have paid 100 more for a Ps5. That is just my experience/opinion.
I'm also spoiled a bit with price anchoring from previous refurbished units popping up on Woot occasionally for ~$300. Can't unsee it and not enough differentiation/value proposition to go with Series X with limited to no exclusives this generation when I've got the plain old Xbox One playing just fine.

That your loss like me and anybody else.
You can always sell it if you're not happy lol. Sold my Series S for a loss to get X.

Sigh patiently waiting. It not fun.
Serious question: do you really not believe that you'd get $50 worth of value in use of this console over a year? It seems that saving the $50 is really not worth it in the long run if you could gain use and enjoyment from day 1 of ownership. I get that this is SD but this isn't exactly stocking up on cheap TP here. Spend the extra $50, start having fun.

Funny enough the PS5 was about $350 at Target on Black Friday

As for those newcomers or thinking of getting one: have at it esp when it is below MSRP. Don't be super cheap like me.
