You don't want something abrasive when using it on your face. This spins slowly on purpose, so is not to over damage skin.

Get the Tim Taylor version, it has a lot more horsepower, but also starts to smoke after 2 minutes of use

Terrible torque. Any slight resistance and it stalls. Better to get the skull shavers. They come with the brushes and you can always buy more

The facial brush is designed to be used gently, as the skin on your face is much more sensitive than other parts of your body. I believe It comes with two speed settings to accommodate different skin types and preferences. I bought one around 17 years ago from CVS using extreme couponing, and it cost me around $5 or less, maybe even free. Despite its age, it still works, although I don't use it frequently.

When using the brush, hold it so that the tips of the bristles just lightly touch your skin. This will effectively remove dead skin cells and reveal smoother skin underneath. Be careful not to press too hard, as this can damage the skin's surface and force it into overdrive to heal itself, which can be counterproductive.

It's for cleansing, not dermabrasion.

Would one use this in conjunction with a clarifying lotion/exfoliator, or will this device just completely replace the need for those and you just use moisturizer afterwards?

So, I can only give you my opinion and I have taken care of my skin for decades and it has been worth it Wink SO, there are two things, a) cleanser, and b) exfoliator/scrub. They both come in liquid or lotion form, and some exfoliators come in thicker paste form to rub on your face and generally have "grainy" sand particles to rip dead skin from surface. You should only use exfoliator or scrub no more than 2 or perhaps 3 times a week especially if its concentrated with rough sandy textures that you could feel scrubbing your skin like sandpaper. So, I use normal cleanser (not exfoliator), just rub it on your face skin and then use this brush very gently to open up pores and remove dead skin and debris. I would never use this brush everyday. You must give your skin time to heal. If you use it too frequently, then you are basically rubbing off constantly young baby skin that is surfacing. Now, theoretically, exfoliators/scrubs do the same as the brush. But, you may always experiment this brushing with the scrub but gently, and never daily.

Do try and test and see what works for you. But in general, keep it around the method I just told you above. You will also notice when you apply this brush by pressing it little harder on your skin, and then you will actually feel new skin forming like you would have a new skin after a deep wound. As you mover your jaw, you will feel your skin surface vividly. That's why, you must be very careful and not put it on overdrive and simply damage the skin on molecular level.

Also use quality skincare items. Common mass merchandise is just too low quality. Some skincare items in drug stores have become little higher quality but very expensive. But, I still recommend specialty skincare items like KIehls. (others like Anthony Logistics, for men, Sheseido etc.) are just super expensive and I do not find them even close to as good as Kiehls has wworked for me. And believe it or not, Kiehls is mostly the least expensive of all especialty skincare. And lately have started running deep sales discounts frequently. I remember I used to pay full price for decades and they never had any sale ever.

And to answer your questiondiretly, yes use this brushing with cleanser, not brushing by itself. Cleanser will lubricate the skin a little so the brushing is not zipping the skin apart too easily. Once you use this brushing, preferably at night before bed, I would just not use anything on my face while the face is healing from abrasion. Any harsh moisturizers etc right after may possibly scar the skin. Just leave it overnight its own. And next day, use moisturizer over it without using the daily cleanser. Also, I would not go into sunlight right after this sandpapering. That would be extremely dangerous.

Moisturizing is a separate routine, so you would just be using moisturizer or quality cream as you would even if using this brushing. This brushing is not a replacement for moisturizers.

Still this price. Stacks with the $15 Amazon P&G credit if you spend $60.
