Eh. Hold out for the 100" Hisense deal ($1999 with free install some months back. Then it was like $2399 last week and back to $3k now).

The Hisense also is a better panel than this TCL...Hisense has full array dimming VS TCL which is direct lit only. Hisense is also 144hz native VS 120hz on the TCL.

My local BB has both panels on display and the Hisense has a better picture overall. I'm just waiting out the $1999 deal to come back and will pull the trigger.

98" name brand flat screens with even passable picture quality for $2000 is crazy. I remember when the 42" Philips Flat TV came out and my dad wanted to buy one for $20,000 to replace our 20-something inch wood paneled RCA CRT. He never made extravagant purchases like that, but he thought about it. He settled on a Pioneer Elite 53" projection TV that you couldn't even watch with the window open behind the couch when it was light out for like $6,000. Pretty wild how far we came in 2 decades.

Last year's model, 98S550, was promoted as a 120hz model. HDMI 1 has a sticker that says 144hz.

I spent about a month using Custom Resolution Utility, Nvidia app settings, various cables, etc and could never produce a 144hz signal from my home theater PC.

Two weeks ago, it suddenly popped up after a software update from the TV. I guess they've fixed whatever was causing the issue, works flawless now.

Back in 2002, a 15 inch windows laptop costs 2,000 bucks. Now a 100 inch QLED TV costs the same with inflation added.
