Here is the response of Motorola to unlock of Tracfone Moto G Power 5G 2024 (XT2415V) in the Lenovo Forum. Basically, it states that Tracfone is only one that can solve the problem.

"Thank you for reaching out. I have received your IMEI via PM and I was able to check into this further. Tracfone, and many other carriers are now using Remote Unlock on some devices, this allows the carrier to unlock your device without the need for an unlock code. Your device uses this remote unlock method.

Since Tracfone stated the phone would be unlocked after 24 hours I would wait until that time has elapsed then try inserting a SIM (not a Tracfone SIM) in the device to see if it works. If it doesn't you may need to reach back out to Tracfone to see if something needs to be updated in their system to allow the unlock.

Unfortunately, Tracfone is the only one that can help with this concern. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Becky"

Better to just order it online at Straight Talk website then. You can get 2 of them for $75 and also get around $7 back from cash back shopping site.

Does it have the bands for all the other carriers? will it work overseas when unlocked? I know someone said 1 year, but is that true that I could wait a year to use the service? thanks
Anyone else know the answer to this? Hoping I can stash it away for 2 months and use it on T-Mobile

More RAM, faster SOC, faster wired charging + wireless charging, NFC, larger capacity battery, improved refresh rate, 5G, Android 14 + security updates for next three years, etc. No stylus, but honestly, I have not really used that at all since I got the phone (even though I thought I would originally). Anyway, upgrades on a bunch of stuff--for just $42 per phone, which is great!

Interesting 2 items from the Verizon acquisition:
143. Sixth, for at least three years after the close of the transaction, Verizon will maintain
existing TracFone rate plans and allow existing and new customers to continue on those plans.
No later than 24 months after closing, any new 700 MHz C Block TracFone device that
Verizon offers and that operates on Verizon's network will be capable of automatically unlocking.
Adopted November 2021.
These phones should/must automatically unlock
The price increase at T-mobile may be a precursor to Tracfone increases come December.

That's why I'm increasingly hesitant to say it's OK to wait longer than a few months to activate (even though it was OK in the past). Verizon can change everything in the near future & the only option we have will be to find another provider. After all they now own TF/ST/Total/WFM and Visible, I could easily see the services combined into something new next year.

I have thought so also, why maintain all those former divisions, I think the squeeze play is coming-subsidized phones via bill credits. We've already seen that on Total with the Iphone 12. It's already pretty standard at the 3 MNO's.

I started doing phone deals in 2020 and I think that was the "Golden Era". Sign up and referral bonuses with AT&T, T-mo, Sprint were paid out in cash or prepaid debit cards (easily converted into Money Orders). Verizon was the one that spoiled the party by paying bonuses via Verizon GCs, only good for Verizon services. 2021 through 2022 were also good years with generous Tracfone Rewards points that you could accumulate quickly and redeemed for iPhone11's to sell or trade-in to Google Fi for $300 each toward Samsung S2x phones. 2023 was when the screw got tightened, TF cut back Reward points, Google Fi reduced trade-in values of iPhones, instant discounts for phones sold by Fi were only available to existing Fi customers, the rest got offered 24-month credit, the Big 3 started offering discounts via 24 or 36 months bill credit. Last month, Metro raised their prices and changed unlocking wait period from 6 months to 1 year. I'm afraid the pickings next year will be even slimmer.

suggestion - read the info at beginning of thread and at least the first few pages of thread, it's especially helpful for those that don't know how Straight Talk works
I apologize for not knowing how straight talk works. Where I am a new ST purchaser, I have been with SD for 20 years and did read every post up to when I asked my question since the best answer I could find was "Don't pay for 2nd mo and let the phone sit". I was just hoping to get some guidance into what I would be getting myself into if I order the phone

No need to apologize, but when someone asks a question thats been asked and answered numerous times I usually recommend reading the info provided at beginning of thread. Your question was about the need for 2nd month plan & well covered here.

is it 60daya of
service or only 1 month service required?
From their policy - so 2-3 months is required:
"If you have not met the required minimum period of active TracFone Service, TracFone may unlock your cellphone, but you will incur a charge of up to $300,"

Concur completely, and those AT&T deals were gold especially with....
I looked again at the spreadsheet of my phone deals in 2020 and the attachment below pretty much summed it up. A pretty good year.

"If you have not met the required minimum period of active TracFone Service, TracFone may unlock your cellphone, but you will incur a charge of up to $300,"
The crucial part of their policy is this sentence "For all cellphones activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically, sixty (60) days after activation". It does NOT specify a minimum length of required service for that scenario. For other scenarios, it does specify a required length of service.

But if paying for 2-3 months gives you peace of mind, go ahead. I'll stick to one month of service.
