So. We did do this. Opened two accounts. One for her and the other for the son. Both got their $300 Checking account bonuses already deposited. We did change the payroll to send their pay to Chase for one payment. Smilie

Deposited the $15K in each one of the two savings accounts and those bonuses are slated to be paid.

No idea how to track the extra $400 bonus in the app though. Does anyone know of a way to do that or to figure that out?
When you opened the accounts for your kids, did one of the parents have to "co-sign"? Just making sure I navigate this well to 1) make sure we dont lose bonus, and 2) so we can do again in the future.

No. I did not but that is because my youngest is 19. You cannot open an account for a minor without co-signing and if one or both of the parents already have an account with Chase, that account won't be eligible for the bonus.

At least that is what my understanding is for this.

So, the little thing which said to track your savings bonus is gone on both wife's account and son's account. Not sure if we will get the remaining $600 per account or not. :|

I have a question about direct deposit at Chase. Will an ACH transfer from eBay or brokerage account (Charles Schwab) work?

For people figuring out the Direct Deposit qualification on this deal, helpful tip:

Deposits from TreasuryDirect like Treasury Bills maturing or reinvesting (giving you the small interest back) should both count as valid Direct Deposits.

Also, reading the fine print, looks like to not get any fees on the accounts you will need….
$15,000 in the savings
$1,500 in the checking

So locking up $16,500 for around 90 days.

Will need to figure out the way to best close it once I get the bonus. Anyone have any experience with closing these out after the bonus is received?

I'm sure someone else has pointed this out further along in this thread, but just in case, I think the "1500" requirement for the checking account can be negated by the 15,000 in savings with the following requirement "OR an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying Chase checking, savings, and other balances"

Thanks!!!!! (I'm getting 5% in high yield at the moment and was about to do the math to see if the bonus is worth it)
From my calculation, 5% on 15,000 dollars is 750 bucks, so divide that by 12 (to convert to monthly interest) and multiply by 3 for 90 day requirement = $187.5

Seems worth it on a fundamental numbers basis.

I got the same error. May be it's because credit bureau accounts are locked. This happened while I was opening citizens bank account.

Just posting that both the accounts (wife's and son's) got the Savings bonus and the extra bonus deposited today. It is a pending deposit and should be available tomorrow. Smilie

What is considered direct deposit on the checking bonus? Transfer from another back or recurring setup from employment to qualify?

Just FYI I recommend doing this in person If you can. Especially if you have a credit card account. They denied my online application due to "fraud" and didn't tell me. Then locked my online ID so I couldn't even check my credit cards.

I was passed around and hung up on for over 40 min and eventually managed to find someone who could unlock my online ID. They kept asking for my debit card number despite not being approved for the checking account.

A trip to the chase branch with my passport and DL would have been a lot quicker.
From the comments here, going to the branch seems the safest way to ensure bonuses are received and they cant claim I did something wrong on my side to invalidate. I do have chase credit cards but no previous chase banking accounts and they I see the offer on my chase CC account and they sent a mailer with invite code.

Can anyone give thoughts on doing in the branch and what to have to make sure the process is smooth? Going for both accounts and $900 bonus. I'm probably over cautious but absolutely hate hassles. I intend to have my name and kid and will go into branch myself.

Appreciate the thoughts and experience of others.

No issues for me with their personal or business offers. Even their $3000 private client offer earlier this year was deposited with no problems

$900 return (pre tax) for transferring $15,000 for 60 days is pretty sweet for at most a few hours of work. Just don't keep the money there longer than needed
dont know a lot about the private client thing but sounds like opening these checking/savings accts doesnt invalidate the $3K offer for private client?

We did both our account(s) online. Did not go to a branch this time. No issues faced. I always grab screenshots of the promotion before pressing submit so that if things go sideways, I have proof. Did not need anything for either of the two account(s) which were opened within 5 mins of each other from the same IP and laptop.

2-3 years back for my daughter, we did go to a branch and then too there were no issues.
