Drivers are looking at their phones and not your fancy shoes.

I'm not looking at my feet when riding and I couldn't care less about what others think of my shoe color, so any color is fine, especially if it's on sale.

Except for riding on the road, where bright colored shoes spinning around at 80rpm are pretty eye catching and should help drivers notice you.

Limited to that one color (Black/Grey) only. Not my first choice, but for $46 vs $165 ($124 for some), I'll take it!
And one less excuse to get back on the bike.

HOTDEAL indeed Smilie

The cleat mounts seem quite a bit inboard on the sole of the shoe. Don't know if that is how they do things nowadays with the wider Q factor of modern bikes.

Maybe so, but the brighter the color, the more likely it is that they'll notice you.

FYI these run narrow. If you have wide feet the freeride shoes are much more comfortable (although not clip-in)

Mean while you're looking at the person who is looking at their phone while driving is just as bad?

Is that a statement or a question? Did I hit a nerve there?

As a person commuting by bike amid 3,000 pound deathmobiles, it's kinda imperative that I'm paying attention to what the drivers on the roads are doing.

Also, if I get distracted watching texting drivers texting, odds are I hurt/kill myself. When a driver is texted and distracted while driving said 3,000 pound deathmobiles, odds are they're gonna kill somebody else. Maybe multiple somebodies.

In for 1. Replacing my Five Ten Maltese Race shoes from 7 years ago. Shockingly those shoes are still bangin after a few hundred rides, though the outer layer is coming off. Now to buy some new cleats...

Saying there's no point in wearing bright colors or using reflectors because you won't be seen anyway is untrue and harmful. The parts of your body that are constantly moving are more likely to be noticed by drivers (aka legs and feet), and color influences how likely those moving parts are to be noticed. There have been studies on this.

It could also just be a joke. Obviously not every single driver is distracted and looking at their phone. I'll make sure to write a long disclaimer with any joke I make in the future so no one takes it seriously and hurts themselves.... Oh that's why we have those stupid long warnings on everything!

If you are a mountain biker who rides flats, there are other five tens I would check out over these - with the same code. I usually ride freerider, but got these for my wife for $33. The only downside I see with them is they might be too burly.
