Is this really that bad? I mean, three of the four categories do suck, but gas is huge. That alone makes it a solid quarter IMHO.
Long time Chase Freedom cardholder here and I gotta say this is gonna be a trash quarter with these options. However, it is hardly a surprise. For Chase Freedom, you usually get only 1 or 2 good quarters a year. The other 2 are pretty useless. You normally hope for a good Q4 when a lot of shopping is gonna be done.

For those of you who use Chase Freedom and have 7-11 convenience stores around, they fall under "gas stations" for the extra reimbursement until September 30th.
I found this out by checking my points and the upcoming log and noticed it.
I just called to product change my freedom flex MC to the freedom Visa. Agent went ahead and did it no hassle. Hope it works
Worked for me yesterday. You should be able to use the card immediately if you go into the Chase app, tap the new card, then Manage account, Digital wallets and add it to Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal.

Thank you! Didn't realize, it's already in the app
For all of those complaining just buy gift cards at the gas station.
Until I got the US Bank Cash+ Visa which offers 5% on utilities I would buy I would buy a Visa card and pay my electric bill with it. I drive an EV so I don't use the gas perks as much. But with the variety of cards you can find a way to use up the $1500.

Doesn't the activation fee basically eat the cash back?

5% of $1500 = $75. Higher if you move your points to a Sapphire card.
Doubt the GC activation fee is that high.

I beleive it's $7 for the $200 card so it eats a majority of the cash back.
Sure, but only 1.5% net as the fee is $7 on a $200 card. I have a 2.625% catch all card that's better
