Don't need to. Pretty obvious what this was a sale for!

I am not sure about performance wise but the weight difference is 4.17lb vs 3.9 (newer), only a quarter pound difference. The price on the new version is $179.

I bought the one on this post at the beginning of May when there was a promo with $300 off $500. I used once to trim branches and I have to say it got heavy after a short while.

Edit for typo.

I've been looking at this for a bit - getting the power head and pole trimmer at Lowe's got me a better deal ($100...not much, but slightly), but was enough to make it worthwhile with free shipping. Plus I got to use my $15 in MyLowes money from my recent garage storage purchase, plus 6 months financing. $375 delivered with the power head, pole saw and trimmer. I can live with that!

Don't forget the bar and chain oil. I use the Oregon premium 32 oz from Amazon for $7.99.

Not all people on SD are pros with prior knowledge of the system. Whatever I used in the past came with a battery or power cable.

bar and chain are interchangeable for most chainsaw type products. you could im theory put a 24" bar/chain in here...how well it would power it is another issue but it would work, lol.

I use husquvarna, same difference. I think they are all sourced from the same bottling plant.

Bought this last year and have used it a couple of times. Works like a charm and no complaints.

Now I just need to find a similar deal on the pole attachment for the hedge trimmer
Same price... https://a.co/d/0dvxCWFf

OP.. Please write "NO BATTERY" in the title.
Quote from NE0tekk :
Took way too long to find out it doesn't come with the battery, had to scroll to the bottom of the page. Would be useful to include that in this post OP.
The post pretty clearly says ATTACHMENT, it's pretty obvious it doesn't have a battery (or the power head) to me. Even if you're not in the system.

That's the edger attachment you linked, not the hedge trimmer attachment

The lowes sale that's going on isn't too bad. I grabbed essentially 2 multi head units, pole saw, edger, string trimmer, battery, and charger for about $317 before tax.

Does anyone know if this is a universal attachment that would fit a gas trimmer? I don't own anything from this product line. Thanks!

Nope. EGO is a closed eco-system. I've seen a few Youtube videos where guys with electrical skills have figured out how to swap *batteries* within the 40-80v space. But considering EGO's whole shtick is battery-powered lawn tools....

Yeah, if you buy this without realizing you need a power head AND a battery for it to work, you probably aren't the kind of person who's even thinking about wanting to trim his own trees!

I'm far from and SD pro....Big Grin Big Grin

98% of the people buying this know what they are doing.

The other 2% are just rich guys that just love to spend money on new gadgets because they can...and I don't feel sorry for them one bit if they can't figure out what they need to run one of these things!

Had to return it because the male screw part on the oil tank broke off. Something to keep an eye on as it has to be a manufacturing defect.
