The base 2023 edge is about 230 used after a year. So very little room for profit.

Makes more sense to buy edge 2023+ from boost for $240 with plan. Switch to $25 plan after first month.

Does Boost eventually unlock their phones after a period of time, also is the bootloader unlockable?

Boost is one year, so no difference really. Just a matter of choosing the carrier with the phone you want.

The bootloader can be unlocked for T-Mobile and Boost branded Moto phones. It's unlocked on my boost Stylus 5g 2022.

For Edge 2023+ BL can be unlocked.

I believe the difference is Boost requires 1 year of continuous service and Metro requires 1 month service and just wait 1 year to unlock.

Bought 1. Will try to unlock it when it arrives. If not, it will be my at-home wifi phone, replacing a 6 year old note 9.

There's no way to unlock a metro phone aside from waiting 1 year. Hoping someone will build ROMs for it by then.

I just turned off wifi and my eSim (metroPCS) and put in my T-mobile Physical Sim and ran a speed test and it worked. No need for me to unlock the phone early. (Motorola Edge 2024)

[edit]That was a T-Mobile business account data only sim (prepaid). I use Google Voice for calls. Maybe that makes some difference.[/edit]

Thanks for this info. I know that it worked with T-Mobile postpaid but now you indicated that it worked with T-Mobile prepaid. One person already tried with T-Mobile prepaid and it didn't work. I am confused with T-Mobile prepaid.

Some metro phones worked with both sim cards from Metro & T-Mobile, but will not work with all other mvnos or carriers because it is not unlocked. Just like this phone it will also work on T-Mobile too. It is Not unlock. When the phone is unlocked, it will work for other carriers too like At&t or Mint mobile. You have to wait a year to be unlocked to use all other gsm carriers.
