In reply to the person above, I've owned the Bauer sander that is similar to this, and perhaps it was just mine, but the pad was cupped and it would only sand at the edges. It was basically worthless.

That being said, I also hate this sander. My Festool was off for repairs so I bought this to use in the meantime and to have as an extra for my girlfriend. I understand that they're 2 totally different price brackets but compared to my Festool this is basically a hand vibrator with some sanding capabilities. It's absolutely awful to use.

If you're a woodworker and need to sand a lot, don't bother with this. If you're a DIYER who needs one occasionally, this will get the job done for $53. Just don't use it for more than 20-30 minutes at a time.

I had the harbor freight one, got it for $10 bucks during a sale. It lasted less than a year before I burned it out.

If you have a Menards near you, it is also at this same price, plus you get the 11% off (via rebate check).

Which Festool do you like for finish sanding?

Wasn't for me, but I like the ETS EC 125. Get the 125 and the 150 pad, so you can interchange.

I have had a cupped pad on the 18V Bosch cordless sander. Got it from Menards so it was an easy swap.

Home Depot, Amazon and Lowes have had this for $59. I had this in my cart at Amazon and was waiting for another price drop. It dropped to $53, so I posted it.

Are you implying the Bauer and Bosch are the same item?

If you have any evidence that Bosch's sander and "the Bauer version of this" are the same tool then provide it. I have flagged your comment to be removed because you are posting false information.

I own the Bosch ‎ROS20VSC. It has been around since 2013, and even now continues to win review comparison tests. For example, Popular Mechanics judged it "best overall sander" [popularmechanics.com] just a couple of months ago. It also has very high reviews on the web sites of Amazon, Lowes and Home Depot.

And the specs for the Bauer and Bosch are completely different. For example:
  • Bosch 12,000 OPM vs Bauer 13,000 OPM
  • Bosch has a 2.5 amp motor vs. Bauer has 2.8 amp motor.
  • Bosch weight 3.5 lbs vs. Bauer weight 3.39 lbs
  • The dust collection systems are completely different.
  • The body shapes are completely different.
The Bauer sander and the Bosch sander are completely different tools, so your bad experiences with the Bauer sander are completely irrelevant here.

Slickdeals is a valuable tool, but users who post false information can do real harm to the reputations of manufacturers, and do a real disservice to the users of this site.

No, the user above me said that it looks very similar to the Bauer sander and I used poor wording. I don't know if they're the same, I was just replying to that user. I've updated my wording so hopefully people can stop freaking out.

I did the same as the other user: bought the ETS EC 125 and then bought a 150 pad. I love it, it's SO nice. Pair it with a dust extractor that turns on automatically and it's a MUCH better sanding experience.
