Is this sander any good? Can it handle moderate pressure without giving up

I've had mine for a couple years and it still works good! Had to replace the pad once but a cheap Amazon one has been working well

Bought a reman off of eBay.
A good sander is only as good as the sanding paper itself. Buy the 3M sanding discs. You won't be disappointed

Anyone compare this to a Ryobi? I assume it out performs but who knows

I've had this for a year and a half and it's a great sander. As @MrThrifty mentioned use quality 3M pads and you won't be disappointed. I refinished a deck using mostly this after my belt sander quit on me.

I've noticed it has trouble starting up if the filter is clogged so be sure to dump the bin and tap out the filter often and vacuum it out every so often.

I've had mine for years. I don't do very intensive sanding but I've found it great for the smaller projects I've used it on. Really works and leaves no lines with the orbital motion, handles moderate pressure that I've used. Follow the advice of others in this thread to keep it working well.

I'd say it's one of the best 5" random orbital sanders out there, especially at this price. Got mine in 2017 for $56 - so this is definitely a deal after 8+ years worth of inflation.
Good performance, good speed control, and dust collection is surprisingly effective - even without a vac attached. Would buy again if mine died.

Like another commenter stated, using good discs like 3M xtract / cubitron can make a pretty big difference in perceived performance. If you want to do your future self a favor, buy an 'interface pad' for the sander while you're at it to prolong the life of the hook & loop.

I love mine. I've completed several projects with it and it performs flawlessly.
