Skil was 34% slower than M12 Fuel in Torque Test Channels impact driver driving test. 21.9 seconds versus 16.4 for the Fuel. https://youtu.be/h3U0TPpauGs?t=653

This is the 12V which some like better than the 20V. If you're a new home owner not planning to tackle huge projects these will do fine for 99% of what you need.

100% the fuel is the better tool, I agree with you there. I know you didn't mention it, but the value here is significantly better for people not using their tools every day or just the basic homeowner. A similar priced kit from Milwaukee for their m12 fuel stuff is probably 2x as expensive, even with hacks.

FYI,

You have to REGISTER at skil's website within 30 days or purchase to upgrade from 2 to 5 year warranty.

I believe fine print says non commercial, residential use only for the 5 year upgrade.

SKIL PWR CORE are fantastic! They don't have the distribution and marketing power of the big behemoths. (I'm looking at you, Ryobi, Milwaukee, and DeWalt!)

But the 20V PWR CORE brushless drill and impact drivers I have are so much more compact and nicer than their Ryobi brushless equivalents.

This coming from a Ryobi die-hard. (Former DeWalt.)
Different tools here. Did you buy a Ford Fusion because the Mustang is kind of fast?

Great tools! I like the ring light on the impact driver. Skil also has nice batteries that dub as a usb charger, and extra batteries for the 12V were only $29.99 last time I visited Lowe's.

Have had this kit for like 3 years and have put it through hell. Absolutely love the tools. Also added the 12v circular saw, a work light, and just bought the 12v powered ratchet for working on my vehicles.

I have a ton of m18 tools for heavy duty use but find myself using these more often when possible.

I guess if your job is to screw on nylon washers 8 inches onto a bolt ALL DAY LONG, go with the milwaukee. Otherwise the Skil is so highly underrated and Id recommend it all day long over the m12 variants due to the fantastic value.
I like the single large nyloc nut on a long threaded rod test for assessing driving speed because it takes out the human variability of driving a screw, unseating the driver, reseating it in another screw, driving that one (perhaps at an odd angle), and repeating that process a dozen or two times in a material that could vary in density. But even in the best performing screw driving video found so far, the M12 fuel was quite a bit faster than the Skil.

I'm not arguing about the value of Skil, as I think we can all agree that the value of this deal is exceptional. And I'm not griping about the performance or quality of their tools either, as they are plenty good, especially for homeowner use. My only bone to pick is with those who insist that Skil is just as good as M12 Fuel.

This is already a great deal for 5 tools at the price of single tool from the professional brands. There's no need to embellish the truth to make it seem better than it already is.

I own the Skil 20V Tool Kit equivalent (recip instead of multi tool) Is it Milwaukee/DeWalt/Bosch/Ridgid Performance? Of course not, I'd say these are the best homeowner tool kit next to Ryobi for the value. They will accomplish 90% of everything you will come across 🤙

Got this at Lowe's for $99 2 years ago. My quick go too. Just picked up a 4Ah battery for 29.99 from Amazon the other day. Bought the circular saw too. Really like this set
They have updated the Drill and Impact since that $99 deal. This is the 2nd Gen drill and impact. $99 dollar deal was still a great deal and the 1st Gen are very good tools.

I think the human variability is the point. The M12 is a faster tool but once you add the human variability back in, the difference in driving deck/fence screws isn't going to be noticed for most users amongst the time to setup and 'prep' for each screw.
