This is the newest G14 with an OLED panel, also way thinner than the previous model.
One thing to note: Compared to previous model this one the RAM isn't upgradable there isn't an extra SODIMM slot. You're stuck with 16GB

Wish I was in the market for a laptop, this is a fantastic deal.

I've owned two previous models of this. The most recent being the 2022 Ryzen 9. The GPU seemed like it started overheating and shutting down my entire system. I removed the thermal paste and liquid metal and reapplied with better materials. The thermals went down, but the discrete GPU kept causing crashes so I had to disable it.

The 2020 model before that had its screen stop working.

Add the warranty scamming drama at ASUS and I'd maybe reconsider buying their products.

Good deal but be aware that Asus warranty policy only covers 90 days for open-box, regardless of when the previous owner activated it, that's on top of the recent drama with their warranty department.

Is the soldered RAM at least dual-channel?

Yeah, that's one thing I don't like about buying Asus open box. Their warranty is horrible.

Pulled the trigger on open box "good" for $899. It's about a 20 mile drive.

I own 2 models as well. The all AMD 6700 and the 3060 2021 model. Both have been solid machines that I really enjoy using. The 6700 does get toasty and there have been some other quirks, but nothing deal breaking. OTOH I don't consistently play super intensive games, so my use case isn't the best for true stress testing. All that being said I'm in total agreement regarding the warranty situation. There are too many variables these days to rely on a dicey warranty. I'm not completely against buying Asus stuff but I would exercise a good amount of caution. If the open box looks clean at this price, it can't hurt to test it out for a couple weeks.

It's actually not a bad deal. They tried to sell it to me when I bought a monitor last month. Best part is you get an extended return window. I think it's 30 days.

Awesome deal, I wished I was in need of a laptop. Soon enough I bet we'll get this same price but for brand new.
