So if your phone is Verizon 4G compatible, it should work just fine. 4G is still plenty fast on Verizon
I'm concerned about the voice call quality for conferences, interviews, work related calls etc. Will the calls be as good on GV as they are with a cellular carrier number?
You ---- (Phone line) ---- Google server ---- The other person
When you call out, the phone is actually dialing a separate number to google, while the real destination number is sent out to Google via data/wifi. Google then forward your call to the final destination. So for calling out, your phone needs to be connected to the internet for it to work. (Or you can choose to call with the SIM number, which doesn't need internet.) Receiving a call is similar but no separate internet connection is involved. The dialer's call is sent to Google, then Google forwards the call to you. In the end it's just a phone call forwarding service run by Google with very minimal latency. I've been on GV since Jan 17'. No one has ever noticed/complained there's any lag or clarity issues to me.
Back to Infimobile, I have my wife's phone on them since January of this year. I just bought this deal since the initial 6 month plan is about to run out. It's been pretty good. However hot spot doesn't work on the unlocked Pixel 8 Pro straight from Google without paying that extra $5 fee. They must have figured out a way to enforce the restriction.
I've had the same GV number for close to 10 years and have never had any issues. A lot of members in the phone threads also use GV to take advantage of MVNO deals.
I currently have visible mobile. How does using google voice protect you from losing your number? Why is it safer than simply porting my number from visible to this service, for example?
I would warn people that use ios/Apple that for whatever reason Apple has never allowed me to use my GV number for Facetime/messages even though I've called and been assured that the number isn't blocked or anything. Oh well.

So far so good, let's see how it goes over next several months. Plan to use this as an alternate number and depending on their longevity, possibly bring other light use phones/lines over. Great value for sure, so hoping it will work out longer term. They did correct it and following this post, I did get several follow ups.

Visual Voicemail doesn't seem to activate, and notifications for normal voicemail are not consistent (i.e. we got a notification when a VM was left when the phone was on, but a new VM that was left when phone was off never sent a notification).
I've been working with them a couple of days, at first they said they needed to activate VVM on their end and it would be 24 hours, but 3 days later it still isn't working despite them telling me they have "confirmation it was active.
I'll report back if they get it working, but if you are dependent on VVM or just VM in general, you might have issues.

Infimobile uses Verizon and Verizon has 5G deployed on band 2, 5 and 66 (DSS with LTE). It is not true 5G but is sharing spectrum with LTE bands for providing 5G network. When I was using US mobile on OP8, I was able to get 5G signal (DSS with LTE). With Infimobile, I am still connecting to the same bands but I only get LTE. I guess Infimobile does not have premium Verizon access like US mobile does, which means data will be deprioritized for infimobile users. This is my understanding how my phone works, I may be wrong
