Port your main number to Google Voice. Then you can take advantage of every phone deal without losing your main number.

Then you go to renew a plan it's at a much higher rate

As a counter to this, if you do any amount of texting, don't do this. The google voice app is pretty ass and you can't use RCS with it. Also some apps will not let you use 2FA with it (chatgpt and lots of dating apps). It's def not worth the inconvenience of not having two numbers on your phone (asking google assistant to send a text and it sends from the wrong number) and dealing with google voice

It works with my 4-year-old Oneplus 8. It supports 5G and I remember this vividly because I was on US Mobile 100 days free trial and used their WARP network but on Infimobile it works only with 4G. I do not have any problems yet and in my area, I am getting 100+Mbps speeds on 4G.
So if your phone is Verizon 4G compatible, it should work just fine. 4G is still plenty fast on Verizon
I have the OP8 as well and when checking the IMEI it shows the model is 4G when its actually 5G which is what I get with T Mo..Am on the T Mo Connect plan for $15/mo with 5 GB of data and have been pretty happy with coverage..never used an MVNO before so not sure its worth switching

the newer poco phones, like F6 series
This is a Verizon mvno. Chinese phones don't fully work on Verizon.

Thanks. How is your experience with call quality etc? I'm guessing we have to use the GV dialer for calls? Is that as good as the Android phone dialer by Google?

I'm concerned about the voice call quality for conferences, interviews, work related calls etc. Will the calls be as good on GV as they are with a cellular carrier number?
If you're on Android and set the phone up correctly (link the SIM phone number to your google account; activate the forwarding etc), When you call/receive through the Android dialer, the phone call actually goes like this:

You ---- (Phone line) ---- Google server ---- The other person

When you call out, the phone is actually dialing a separate number to google, while the real destination number is sent out to Google via data/wifi. Google then forward your call to the final destination. So for calling out, your phone needs to be connected to the internet for it to work. (Or you can choose to call with the SIM number, which doesn't need internet.) Receiving a call is similar but no separate internet connection is involved. The dialer's call is sent to Google, then Google forwards the call to you. In the end it's just a phone call forwarding service run by Google with very minimal latency. I've been on GV since Jan 17'. No one has ever noticed/complained there's any lag or clarity issues to me.

Back to Infimobile, I have my wife's phone on them since January of this year. I just bought this deal since the initial 6 month plan is about to run out. It's been pretty good. However hot spot doesn't work on the unlocked Pixel 8 Pro straight from Google without paying that extra $5 fee. They must have figured out a way to enforce the restriction.

Google will not release an active number. They also give you 45 days to reclaim a released number. Sounds like there's much more to this story.

I've had the same GV number for close to 10 years and have never had any issues. A lot of members in the phone threads also use GV to take advantage of MVNO deals.
Do you mind explaining a bit how you're using google voice to protect your number?

I currently have visible mobile. How does using google voice protect you from losing your number? Why is it safer than simply porting my number from visible to this service, for example?

I've been using infimobile for a month and everything works great except for MMS. Customer service provided me APN setting for my phone (Samsung), but MMS doesn't work. Anyone having the same issues?

For people considering doing the Google Voice option with their main number I've been using GV since it's inception and it's been great but as others have stated it doesn't play well some 2FA/coupon codes but I just use the temporary number that they give you when you sign up for whatever service you are using. Seems to work so far.

I would warn people that use ios/Apple that for whatever reason Apple has never allowed me to use my GV number for Facetime/messages even though I've called and been assured that the number isn't blocked or anything. Oh well.

Red alert: 🚨 bought this last night, eSIM activation was supposed to be immediate last night at midnight. Yet, it still is not activated and now they are saying it will be 48 hours. No one answers phone, chat is super bad English (guessing it's low budget India based call center here). Thinking I'm going to need to file dispute with AMEX. Super sketch - will update
7/3 Update: Phone was activated yesterday. They did not activate it with the new number I selected, but I got one I could live with. Two people have written me emails apologizing for the delay, saying it was a temporary network issue, and today the operations manager calls me to inform me of the same and asked me to update post.

So far so good, let's see how it goes over next several months. Plan to use this as an alternate number and depending on their longevity, possibly bring other light use phones/lines over. Great value for sure, so hoping it will work out longer term. They did correct it and following this post, I did get several follow ups.

How does this work exactly? So I port my number to Google voice. When I use a new carrier, do I use a new provided phone number? I still want to use my Google voice number as my main. Is there any drawback to this method? Let say phone verification. Sorry legitimate question.

Just FYI we activated on 6/30.

Visual Voicemail doesn't seem to activate, and notifications for normal voicemail are not consistent (i.e. we got a notification when a VM was left when the phone was on, but a new VM that was left when phone was off never sent a notification).

I've been working with them a couple of days, at first they said they needed to activate VVM on their end and it would be 24 hours, but 3 days later it still isn't working despite them telling me they have "confirmation it was active.

I'll report back if they get it working, but if you are dependent on VVM or just VM in general, you might have issues.

My whole family is on google voice, our home phone does through obitalk, but those days are numbered as poly stop supporting it. I use it as primary on iOS, use iOS app for text and calling. Basically you are forwarding you google voice number into the new number from carrier. Everything is done through the app. GV integrates better in android. I believe 90% of the 2fa verification works, ie chase, boa, td bank, etc, etc. verification that doesn't work is things like line, what's app, those chat programs. Every time you move carrier, you point the gv account to the new number.

GV works the same as it always has and works well. What are you claiming that's not supported?
GM announced they will not include support for Apple car play and Android Auto. Instead they will have their own car software product to lock features behind paywall and/or track your locations information to sell.

OP8 supports 5G in 2, 5, 41, 66, 71 band. Tmo uses band 71 for as sub6-5G and it does not have fastest speed by any means but gives you an excellent 5G coverage. Honestly a good LTE signal can beat sub6-5G in terms of speed.
Infimobile uses Verizon and Verizon has 5G deployed on band 2, 5 and 66 (DSS with LTE). It is not true 5G but is sharing spectrum with LTE bands for providing 5G network. When I was using US mobile on OP8, I was able to get 5G signal (DSS with LTE). With Infimobile, I am still connecting to the same bands but I only get LTE. I guess Infimobile does not have premium Verizon access like US mobile does, which means data will be deprioritized for infimobile users. This is my understanding how my phone works, I may be wrong
