Port your main number to Google Voice. Then you can take advantage of every phone deal without losing your main number.
Then you go to renew a plan it's at a much higher rate
As a counter to this, if you do any amount of texting, don't do this. The google voice app is pretty ass and you can't use RCS with it. Also some apps will not let you use 2FA with it (chatgpt and lots of dating apps). It's def not worth the inconvenience of not having two numbers on your phone (asking google assistant to send a text and it sends from the wrong number) and dealing with google voice

Service is throttled to 30 mbps if you activate on verizon. LTE is like 250 mbps.

Try to get an activation on tmobile.
it is still unlimited after 15gb right ?

FYI...

I was a huge advocate of the method which you proposed since 2015, and I have been none the wiser to any downsides...until just this past week. I started having random text messages bounce back saying ""Message not delivered. See Acceptable Use Policy" I have no clue what I did to trigger it, but I couldnt send texts to random people who I have been messaging regularly for a long time.

The forums, reddit...no one had an answer. If you go to google voice forums, there is this one REALLY snarky moderator who basically embodies the "If you dont like it, get out" mentality. I ended up having to use a DIFFERENT GV number to send texts to these people from last Thursday onwards.

*Finally*I was able to change random words in my text to one friend to get it to send. There are some trigger words which make the system think that I am sending spam. It might be the word "students." Maybe it thinks that I am sending a business text??

Regardless, I have been panicking since last week and thinking about whether to keep my phone number on GV after a 9+ year run.

Man google voice used to be good. Then google did google stuff and basically abandoned it. I'm surprised it's still an active service at all

It's 30mpbs from day one. You cannot go faster than 30mpbs on any of their plans if you get the verizon sim card from them. It's a verizon thing, they just dont outline it.

Their question is on monthly plan limit. your response is on speed.

Yes, after 15gb (from Amazon) or 10gb (this deal) high speed data monthly limit, it is unlimited at very slow/unusable speed.

Overall, the 5G service is limited to 30mpbs doesnt matter what the payment plan is. You have your allocation, and you can consume it at 30mpbs until the premium data runs out.

It works with my 4-year-old Oneplus 8. It supports 5G and I remember this vividly because I was on US Mobile 100 days free trial and used their WARP network but on Infimobile it works only with 4G. I do not have any problems yet and in my area, I am getting 100+Mbps speeds on 4G.
So if your phone is Verizon 4G compatible, it should work just fine. 4G is still plenty fast on Verizon
100mbps on 4G? Post the Ookla screen shot. Here in the west it's half that.

Your speedtest is on LTE, the 5G is the one capped at 30mpbs

I guess you wanted to reply to my speedtest post. Anyway, it seems I am better of being on 4G then. There is a silver lining for those using older 4G supported devices

There are two things that I am supremely worried about that depend on Google and their mercurial (financial support) besides GV. One is Waze, which has stayed great by virtue of Google leaving them alone while they tinker with maps, and the other is the firefox browser, which may lose 95% of their funding if the courts decide that Google cannot pay for their dominant search position (and thereby subsidize mozilla)

Youtube is already basically a paid product with premium, and when you pay, there are limits to how "bad" they can make it (I hope).

Hey Monkey02,

Is your simcard came in a generic white plain card without any logo with just gray print puk and iccid numbers?

What network does it show on your phone? Does it show infimobile? Verizon? T-mobile? Does it show "Home"?
